youtube is just a black screen

Is anybody else having trouble (impossibility) viewing youtube videos. Every video is just a black rectangle with no play button etc. Why might this be. Is it because I was rude in the comments on some crappy footwork video? Did Mike P. do this to me.

Did you recently upgrade to Firefox 5? Anway, upgrade your flash player. That should help.

No, I already tried upgrading flash... Screen is still black.

If the flash player is completely screwed try switching to the html5 one http://www.youtube.com/html5

Click leave then join again if it says you're already taking part. edit: actually that'll probably be no good if you want to watch embedded stuff here. Is vimeo screwed too?

seems to be an issue with firefox. have you tried a different browser?

i can see youtube vids embedded elsewhere. but not on the site itself.

vimeo works

I had this happen in Chrome on Tuesday. Not sure why but it worked ok again after a reset.

no but facebook isn't working at all on chrome. had to go back to safari.....

now it won't let me sign in either with youtube username or google account

also can't open emails from inbox in firefox

I just had the same problem. Changing 'http' to 'https' in the URL fixed it for me, but I dunno what the root problem is all of a sudden. Weird that you got it the same morning I did. Who'd you sleep with last night?

I had this problem on a work computer months ago, but it worked itself out

I have a problem with multiple players when I click to expand to full screen view, it just shows me a black screen. It still plays the audio, and I can see it when it's not expanded, but it takes like a good 10 times of clicker full view to get it to show up.

try clearing the cache and cookies?

reboot with F8 into safe mode

if u use linux you can use youtube-dl to to download a youtube video in watch in it VLC instead of on the site. dont have to read there comments either then

you probably just need to update your cache for the video player, do a hard refresh of the page (shift-click or ctrl-F5)

I saw a young black male watching dad's army full screen with headphones in the internet cafe a couple of weeks ago.

Maybe it's because they're testing their new design.
