Guest sirch
if you could only ever use 3 pieces of (music) hardware for... x amount of time,.. not forever but a long time, then what would you choose? you have a computer, a mixer/ing desk/audio interface already, but no sampler. i'm interested because i've been trying to whittle down my (hardware) setup over the last couple of years to just 3 things. like, a polysynth, a drum machine and an analog monosynth. - just trying to find the perfect 3-combo, cos it's interesting and cos i can :) let me know your thoughts, please, if you like... cheers Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/67336-3-is-the-magic-number/ Share on other sites

Juno-60, TR-808, SH-101. or CS-40M, DMX, monomachine. and btw, money is an object! you're not allowed to spend more than a grand on each bit of kit, and no samplers. ;) 3 bits of gear. go..... Guest ryanmcallister
1. Elektron Machinedrum SPS-1UW MKII 2. Fully customized modular synth 3. ZOOM H4n (I'm counting an Akai APC40 as part of the previously existing software setup. If that's not allowed then I would rank that number 1 of all my gear I could ever need.) Guest Tamas
Korg Electribe-R Prophet 8 and a Roland Jupiter 8 if I had unlimited time I'd probably get different gear, though. I picked based on simplicity with versatility. Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/67336-3-is-the-magic-number/#findComment-1615868 Share on other sites
luke viia
i'm putting my sampler in there. maschine (there it is) alpha juno basic midi keyboard (m-audio 49e) grand total = something like $600-700... (mine was closer to $600 cuz the m-audio was 2nd-hand and free) this combo has been good to me so far! TechDiff
assuming that things like monitors, microphones, comfy chair etc are covered in the basics. Money no object: 1, Monstrous eurorack modular. 2, Korg Ps 3300. 3, Grand Piano. within budget: 1, As much eurorack as I could get 2nd off eBay. 2, DSI poly evolver 3, Decent upright piano it depends what is covered in the basics, as much as I'd love a shed load of hardware, Id get really irritated without certain things. NEED a comfy chair, decent monitors and headphones, room treatment, stuff that helps me get into the right frame of mind. If that wasn't included in the basic setup it'd be the first things I'd get. Off topic, but I've had the thought a bunch of times about what Id get if I won the lottery. a farm house in the middle of nowhere, around the Wye valley area. Lush studio setup with a view over the countryside, and a side room lined on every wall with modular madness blinking away :) But for now I have to settle for a dying laptop, and a view over the A23 :( Edited July 11, 2011 by TechDiff Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide TechDiff's signature Hide all signatures My new album on Ad Noiseam 05/11/2012 http://www.adnoiseam.net/adn151 Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/67336-3-is-the-magic-number/#findComment-1616134 Share on other sites

foresense
I would maybe go for something like this: Lexicon PCM81 Sherman Filterbank 2 DSI Tempest On 7/11/2011 at 5:52 AM, TechDiff said: Off topic, but I've had the thought a bunch of times about what Id get if I won the lottery. a farm house in the middle of nowhere, around the Wye valley area. Cars screaming by from 5 till late in the evening. At least I could turn up the volume to drown out the noise. jeyemusik
If I was cutting down to three bits of hardware then it would be Monomachine, FS1r and Nord Micromodular. If we're talking fantasy-land then I suppose the only thing I would change would be the Micromodular for G2 Keyboard.
