Guest gfxtwin
has anyone tried using BOC's music to create water/powder/sand/salt cymatics? Check out some cool vids on cymatics here: here They obviously have a strong knowledge of these kinds of gyroscopic shapes. I wonder if they have made any tracks that have been structured with the intention of directly manipulating these shapes in a way that a film editor might string together images? Guest gfxtwin
Looks like the official term for what I tried to describe in the last question is called "harmonic interference theory". So, I wonder if there is any proof beyond pure speculation that BOC are employing this technique in their own music? If Aphex twin can hide a detailed image of his face in his music, who knows what those crafty Sandisons are up to! heh. Guest gfxtwin
Nutty journalist aside, the fact that these psychedelic shapes do in fact emerge from sound (look it up anywhere else for proof) is something worth pondering over, isn't it? Guest sickboy
it is very very interesting stuff worth remembering that any tune or sense perception alters your (sub)conciousness in some way, anyway chaldini plates / cymatics are nice little audiovisual metaphors for that i think chaldini plates as well let u see the vib nodes in a 2d sheet, so its educational about physics n shit too Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/67783-heres-a-cool-experiment-to-try-the-next-time-you-listen-to-boc/#findComment-1627184 Share on other sites

I only got about 30 seconds into the first video before being disgusted by that crackpot's bullshit theories, but those shapes generally only form from pure, slowly evolving oscillator tones. Pretty much any actual music would be far too busy to form interesting patterns. mcbpete
That's just the bass guitar hooked up to a VU meter mapped onto polar coordinates then ran through a filter. Any visualisation technique like that would make music look good !
