Bad As Me is Tom Waits’ first studio album of all new music in seven years. This pivotal work refines the music that has come before and signals a new direction. Waits, in possibly the finest voice of his career, worked with a veteran team of gifted musicians and longtime co-writer/producer Kathleen Brennan. I like that the video is a dig at people who download leaks and stuff.

The clips do sound awesome... this is the first time he's released an album since I started listening to him so I'm quite excited!

In celebration I'm gonna buy some whiskey that was brewed in a suitcase by a half Cuban half Chinese homeless guy

I heard the album stream he did a few days back. Pretty fresh, I reckon. I liked Real Gone but some of the songs were too long and/or unmemorable, & the whole "scratchy beatbox recorded in my bathroom" angle took some time to become palatable.

This new one is a lot tighter. Clean production (by TW standards), bunch of songs under three minutes, most all of them have a good groove going on. And "Hell Broke Luce" shows once again that he can still sound design as well as an electronic guy, but in the context of a rock song with no added effects.

I'm avoiding the stream this week. looking forward to getting my hands on it next week. i like both the tracks released already and both are completely different too.

Quite like the title track.
