iTunes crashes when seeking to new cd track

Recommended Posts

so i'm running itunes 10.4.1 in os x 10.6.8, also using the last.fm plugin for scrobbling, and every time i play a cd through itunes, when the next cd track automatically begins, or if i seek to a new track, itunes crashes.

it seems to be quite difficult to re-install itunes (?) from everything that i am reading and i'm only finding one 5 year old thread reporting this issue, so i'm wondering if anyone has experienced something similar.

help me watmm you're my only hope!

I always get iTunes "organizing" my files every time I burn a cd. I almost never add new music but it does this ever time now.

itunes is the worst piece of software ever written, switch to something else

Also this.

Get yourself a proper CD player hooked up to a nice system and problem is solved.

yeah, it was the last.fm plugin wreaking some sort of havoc, once i deleted it everything's fine.

as far as "why itunes", i dunno.. is there a good alternative in os x? i don't have an ipod so the value of syncing doesn't exist.

i also was a sceptic with itunes, hated it in windows, but when its running on osx its beautiful, a whole different beast altogether.

Is it definitely an iTunes thing? Have you tried playing the cd in any other program, or opening any files off a data cd to see if it's the drive? It probably is the program, but worth checking that.

it's fixed now, it was the last.fm plugin which was causing some sort of problem.
