hi... just but me some JBL-LSR4328P ... i connected to my workstation comp no problem through SPIDF

my problem came when i connected them to my MEDIA/bitch Comp....

im going from the 1/8 out to RCA (cable that converts miniplug to RCA)... to a Stereo DirectBOX... then from the XLR's into the JBL's

then sound comes in fine... but even with the comps volume turned all the way up the JBLs are still not getting enough volume to really make it loud...

any help???

you probably need a mixer or something to be able to give it a boost. get a cheap behringer or soundcraft and get rid of the directbox?

those are nice looking speakers, i have the LSR 8" they are very nice as well and sound very nice. idk about ur problem i have mine plugged into a audio interface with TRS cables and the sound is just FINE and the volume, can shake the walls if i want them to

What in the heck is a MEDIA/bitch comp? And why in the world would you run your output signal through a Direct box? I am very, very confused, and this sounds very, very wrong. Direct boxes usually have isolation transformers which step the signal down in order to match impedance. You could be losing a lot of gain there depending on exactly what kind of direct box you are using.

Also, those are very nice monitors. The fact that you would be plugging them into something with a 1/8" stereo jack is quite disturbing. You are scaring me. Why don't you have a decent audio interface with balanced outs? I think your priorities here may be ass-backwards and that is probably half of your problem.

EDIT: Okay, I just realized that your MEDIA/bitch comp is your other computer, so it makes sense why you wouldn't have a decent audio interface on it. The direct box is your problem. Lose it. The monitors can probably handle unbalanced signals okay. You just need to split your stereo 1/8" TRS jack into two 1/4" TS jacks and plug them into the balanced 1/4" inputs on the JBLs. This should solve your problem.

PS, Where the fuck is the edit button? Having to double post is some inane fucking shit. What is this shit, a newsgroup from 1993?
