I like her. What is this? I don't like the artwork.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

I don't like that artwork either. Its creepy. Plus the typography is probably the laziest I've ever seen.

This is her new album. Seven tracks and sixty-five minutes long apparently.

According to twitter she called in Stephen Fry to provide his voice for it. That is worrying.

"They're about guns, lasers, robots with laser guns in space. Monsters from the future. Explosions. Sylvester Stallone doing a backflip on top of a spike while Robocop carries a ghost up a mountain. Bombs and swords and that... IDM is awesome."

Well, at least it isn't Rolf Harris again. :)

We're very excited to confirm that 50 Words For Snow features three special guest musicians:

  • Andy Fairweather Low appears on Wild Man,
  • Elton John appears on Snowed In At Wheeler Street,
  • Stephen Fry appears on the song sharing the same name as the album, 50 Words For Snow.

This is an artist whose greatest work is over twenty years ago.

I did buy the last album but there was so much pretentious crap (the whole of the second disc) that I was frankly embarrassed.

Stephen Fry is one of the most annoying, smug celebrities I can imagine.

Even more reason to avoid it.

And yet astonishingly, I know more people who believe the precise opposite than would agree with any of that. :)

I actually didn't really care for 'Aerial' all that much either. However, I couldn't care less if her "supposed" best works were over twenty years ago. Terrible artwork and misguided recent rework projects aside, I'm not going to make a decision about whether to avoid this new album or not until well after at least one track is made available to preview. I have to admit, I'm not optimistic, which is unusual for me.

I am happy for you, though, that Steven Fry is the most annoying and smug celebrity you can imagine, because you're saving yourself from a whole world of hurt! The television pukes things at me I would prefer to erase from history, let alone forget! :D

Loved Aerial, not quite the same level as Hounds of Love but that was verging on genius. I wouldn't call her pretentious; if anyone writes from the heart it's Kate. She is a perfectionist though, so maybe her music comes across sometimes as too thought about.

it's a great album, i spend a lot of my time driving over the Snake_Pass (where the Anvil Vapre track names are taken from) and this CD (the missus' actually) has been in my car for a long time - it fits a snowy remote drive in the dead of night.

I honestly never expected to like this album - I mean a song with Stephen Fry intoning 50 made-up words for snow? Sounds fucking awful. Only got round to listening to it last month.

Strangely though it's great, first 3 songs especially.
