Kind of surprised to see this hasn't been posted yet. If you're into any of the "chillwave"/80s revivalist shit, this one is a must. One of the best albums of the year, IMO, and a significantly more coherent effort than his first. Who says Mexicans never produce anything worthwhile?

Listening link at NPR (not positive it's still active, since the album is now out): http://www.npr.org/2...ian-era-extra-a

Interview I enjoyed with the dude behind the tunes: http://pitchfork.com...64-neon-indian/

It's an improvement over the last LP.

Well, no one on WATMM. Lot of Murcof fans here actually. I'm sure you're joking though (and likewise where someone says something like "what, no they make tract homes all the time!" :derp: ) And he's Mexican but grew up in Texas, though last I heard he moved to Brooklyn in 09' so I don't think its that relevant anyway.

I really enjoy a lot of that music but never could like Neon Indian's first effort, it's annoying lo-fi. To be honest, I actually wondered if he kinda hopped on the bandwagon (this was the same time as Memory Tapes/Washed Out/Toro Y Moi/Ariel Pink getting popular) because his more polished work as Ghosthustler and Vegas (which is good) never got as much hype. This LP's sounds decent though.

I pre-ordered the deluxe edition just to get the mini generative synth—I'm splitting the price with my sister and giving her all the music-related bullshit

Hah, that was pretty cool looking, I'll give him kudos for that.

Many thanks indeed for drawing my attention to this album. I've been listening to it pretty much non-stop, it's definitely one of my favourites of the year.

Suns Irrupt is spectacularly good.
