KovalainenFanBoy
The nearest record shop where I live is like an hour long travel by train away, and the nearest good record shop is... well I haven't seen one yet, but I'm sure there are some in Madrid (I live in southern southest Spain). But there is this shopping centre with a tiny music section with 3 shelves with Justin Bieber, Moby and AC/DC cd's all in the same stand. And the cheapest, shittiest cd costs 15 €, while the good ones are 22€ each. fucking crazy. Guest KY
That's fucking bonkers. I don't mean to rub it in, but the music is comparatively cheap in New York. YEK
around 30 for new release vinyl here in canada, exchange rate is pretty equal to the states soooo i should note that's the price of a 2 x 12 seems like music is cheaper in england from what surfing boomkat and the like. buying from boomkat and bleep in canada can be ridiculous Edited September 18, 2011 by yek Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide YEK's signature Hide all signatures Reveal hidden contents !:/music Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/68833-is-music-expensive-where-you-live/#findComment-1657811 Share on other sites
QBLA
Mad Platter is about 30 miles away from me. But I've only been there once since I moved here in December. Back in 2003 (the last time I went there) they had a larger electronic music section. Now its about half the size. but in fairness, so are the other sections. I didn't go in with anything in mind. just started looking around and see what caught my eye. ended up buying replacement CDs for some that were stolen. Amber by AE and New Forms by Roni Size Reprazent. Rhino Records is about 50 miles away... haven't been there since 2002 I believe. Then of course the best one I've ever been to Ameoba is like 80 something miles away. Guest couch
CDs used for like 5 to 10 bucks. New for about 15. There's one record store and one FYE near me. Though neither have good electronic selections. But for metal they have lots of stock. I get electronic albums from amazon and usually at whatever the lowest used price is while still being in decent condition. Caretstik
I paid 8 quid for the new Mogwai EP on Monday. Seems a bit exorbitant but that's the same as Boomkat so I can't moan. I wouldn't say music's expensive where I live, but maybe per se it's a bit steep per se. Can't for the life of me remember what I used to pay for new releases when I wasn't a decrepit old fool, although £4 for a CD single/EP rings a bell. LUDD et al, please help me out here... Capsaicin
I have around 5 or 6 good spots to pick up music within my general vicinity (up to 20 minutes away). The prices are generally very reasonable. With a little digging I can find great deals on used records. New records are a few bucks more than internet prices. Used CDs can be up to ten dollars, and as low as two or three bucks. New CDs vary a whole lot, but are generally in the 12-18 dollar range unless it's something weird or rare or imported or deluxe. Franciscus
20 euros for a new cd. Way too much. azatoth
From around 6€ to 20€ here. Wax a couple of euro's more. Very rarely buy records from a shop here as they never have anything I want and I can get it cheaper by just ordering it from some online shops.
