YEK
i'd like to change a .wma to an .avi or mpg or whatever thing is i use a program and it has many settings for many types of converting. the problem being a relatively small original file can become 3 x larger and i don't want that. i don't want the screen size to become larger or the fps or audio etc. is there a program that figures out what settings the original file is and keep those settings, only changing the file type? Guest Gary C
Aha, I'd appreciate a good (free and stable) video converter too. I downloaded the first 3 series of Breaking Bad, but they're all .mkv so I can't watch them through my Xbox. I have to link my laptop up through HDMI, but then I can't casually surf the net whilst watching it. Bah! Merge with First World Problems, plz. Guest 277: 930-933
Try MPEG streamclip, it's free. Look at the original bitrate of the video you are compressing and either keep it the same or go below. Keep resolution and aspectratio the same. Or try TMPEG encoder if you are wiling to spend like $50. Guest 277: 930-933
MPEG Streamclip lets you play and edit QuickTime, DV, AVI, MPEG-4, MPEG-1; MPEG-2 or VOB files or transport streams with MPEG, PCM, or AC3 audio (MPEG-2 playback component required); DivX (with DivX 6) and WMV (with Flip4Mac WMV Player). MPEG Streamclip can export all these formats to QuickTime, DV/DV50, AVI/DivX and MPEG-4 with high quality encoding and even uncompressed or HD video. Guest 277: 930-933
If you're on a windows computer, do you have all the right codecs installed? Have a look around on the MPEG streamclip site, it has WMV support.
