Doug Stanhope is sorta blowing up now, but he is entertaining. sorta like a more vulgar Bill Hicks...but still loads better than Leary.

Pretty good actually.

Stanhope's been around for ages though, he co-hosted The Man Show (ugh) with Joe Rogan for a little bit and had a few Comedy Central specials before saying FUCK IT and going back to the underground where he could say what he wanted. He's alright.

oh also haha my ex roommate had a pic on his phone of doug stanhope taking a piss. they saw him and got absolutely plastered during the show and after the show went into the bathroom and doug stanhope was there taking a piss and he was all like "HEY STANHOPE! SMIIIILE!" he was not amused.

i wouldn't exactly say Stanhope was a well-known name during the Man Show.

well known enough to have a full on comedy central special. i remember it pretty well, he was a rising star 6 or 7 years ago, then disappeared.

also he was on charlie brooker's screenwipe/newswipe a bunch

Stanhope's drunk acerbic style is quite endearing.

This guy is a friend of mine. Ridiculously talented artist, musician and comedian. I think he's gonna be big someday, the crowds love him.

I saw Demetri Martin perform last friday and he was incredibly funny. He's well known, but whatever, I wanted an excuse to say it somewhere.

This is surprisingly good. Not incredibly funny but contains many profoundly grizzled dark rants of raw realness.

I have seen glimpses of standhope but so far he just annoys me more than anything. Like the bit SR4 posted... it was alright but to me forgettable. help me out if he is so good!
