iMaschine (featuring Jamie Lidell)

Recommended Posts

so here's the video i alluded to in the maschine mikro thread. i was pretty excited to shoot jamie, and he sells the hell out of the iMaschine app (which is actually one of the better music making apps for iDevices - perhaps more so if you have a full version of maschine to upload your projects to...)

anyway, here is:

actually, this take we ended up using was the one take where she started coughing and abandoned the bed altogether (which is why she's entirely absent from the 2nd half of the video). i had a couple shots of her giving him a look like "wtf dude?" but it detracted from the purity of jamie's performance, which i think is pretty impressive, personally.

Ahrg, I want a Maschine so bad!!

This looks like a great app though. Almost reason enough to go for an iPhone on next phone!

haha well that was a fun first ten minutes with the app, not that this is good by any means but i should really be doing homework anyway!

Didn't really like the music a whole lot but his facial expressions were pretty funny. Mobile music apps are crazy concept, probably would be more serious about wanting them if I road a train or bus everyday or something. I like having all my gear even when I'm doing quick demos but none the less it's really cool that this is getting more mobile apps are getting serious and diverse.

I didn't get to listen to the audio in the video, but this seems like it'd be amazing for live use. Most iOS music apps are pretty bad for live playing--nanoloop is probably the best I've seen but I don't like the way it handles transitions between files--but this seems very interesting. I wonder if it can be used as a kind of loopstation-esque device..?

Just bought it. Played around for 10mins and made something quite excellent. Not shareworthy but definitely better than the first 10mins of any other software I've used!

This is going to be PERFECT for getting those little ideas down while on public transport/at work/etc.

here's my soundcloud upload page for imaschine dickery - the direct-to-soundcloud upload feature is kinda cool, even if it's pretty pointless productivity wise.

Awesome stuff! I have a feeling this will help me come out of my shell, vocal-wise.

I'd have to disagree with that. Beatmaker 2 is absolutely awesome. I can literally crank out a tune on it in no time now. And to be honest there's a lot more you can do on it that I haven't yet explored such as editing samples etc. I personally think mobile music is brilliant - its far exceeded my expections!! :D

Does this have Core Midi?

I'm new to iOS audio but I don't think it does, it doesn't seem to be able to sync up with anything.. Still very awesome for quick ideas and jams though:

http://soundcloud.com/pselodux/imaschine-jam-4

A few things:

- There doesn't seem to be a way to turn off the metronome, or disable count-in when recording the first instance of a part

- Effects are in parallel instead of in series eg. the wet signal of the delay doesn't go through the filter—which kinda makes the ability to use two effects at once useless

- Only one pattern for each part. Would be nice to have say, four patterns for each part like in nanoloop

These aren't huge issues when it comes to sketching out ideas, but they kinda prevent this app from being an amazing live tool. Especially the metronome issue.

Other than that though, this is an awesome app. It's definitely the quickest way to put an idea down on the iphone. *waits for tim exile app*

wtf :wtf:

edit: are you trolling?

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.
