That's fucking pathetic.

There will also be a website, Parentport, which parents can use to complain about television programmes, advertisements, products or services which they believe are inappropriate for children.

Some content may be innapropiate for children, but 100% suitable for a mature audience. The best way to "protect" children from seeing innapropiate content is:

a) Don't let your kids watch a fucking porno by, for example, being a responsible parent, or

b) Don't let anyone watch this because so your children can't watch it either

As R. A. Heinlein would say, 'The whole principle is wrong; it's like demanding that grown men live on skim milk because the baby can't eat steak.'

still, any censor/filter is bad. the baby making fools will think "ok! i've done my parenting here." the mamas for jesus crew will injaculate over their victory and there will be an easy way to find out about those who care not for censorship too. bet it'll be on by default in public places, which means more than no jerking off at the local library any more. people will be stopped from accessing anything that for some reason ends up on the list of naughty things.

parentport is a bag of dicks too. i'm sure it can be put to use for complaining about the things worse than nice tits and pre-watershed dramatised abortions though.

I'm a 20 something internet enthusiast and so I think I'm about as desensitised as anyone but I still stumble into graphic and repulsive porn and gore quite often. I don't really support censorship but I think there is a place for preventing 5 year olds from watching brazilian fart porn

I vote yes for letting the Government create a child safe environment which effects everyone... They need to put rubber bumper on our cars, limit our cars to 20MPH, put soft padding on every wall and ground, replace glass with plastic, place child locks on every door, put plastic plugs in every plug and have a night light in every room.

There... I think that should do it.

continuing the Steve Jobs legacy of keeping us all 'safe from porn' , awesome!

Such a disingenuous argument - Apple doesn't want to sell adult apps through its store. You don't go into a cafe demanding the wait staff be naked do you?

Whereas the only restriction Apple has placed on being able to browse for porn on the net is the lack of flash on mobile devices (and there is still plenty of porn available in non-flash formats).

This is totally different - and a blacklist approach will never work.

Coalbucket - it's called being a responsible parent. I don't let my daughter browse the net by herself, nor will I until I think she's ready to deal with the kinds of shit you can find on the net.

That point about public networks now having to go through the censor filter is important. You're all fucking screwed. Also if you opt out for your home network, the government immediately labels you as a perv.

Yes, but you're essentially providing a filtering function there, that could be done by a machine. There's nothing irresponsible about outsourcing some of your parenting duties. If you think you can control what your daughter sees for 16 or however many years I wish you good luck sir but I think you might not manage it. I remember being passed one of those nude lady pens on the school bus when I was 11 but I can scarcely conceive what kids are looking at now, suffice to say it probably involves loads of cocks and some vomit and an owl or something.

Maybe if Cameron banned porn people would recognize the fact that he actually looks like a freshly wanked penis.

I'm on O2 anyway so I couldnt give a toss (or maybe I could :spiteful: )
