System exclusive dumps

Recommended Posts

I have to say I'm very ignorant about System Exclusive dumps but I understand you can use it just so whatever settings you're running on a synth can be recalled easily - is that correct? Can some educate me about this. I want to be able to do Sys Ex dumps on my Korg 05r/w 'cause I get bored of writing down everything so I can input it again. Cheers.

you should just get midiquest or something like that. Can you make your synth initiate a dump? You could use some kind of sysex librarian to record the dumps and play them back...

MIDIOX does a good job at handling sysex dumps. I think you can even program it to make it interactive.. not sure though, but it's very scriptable.

system exclusive means that it's a per-device way of transfering data, specific for that piece of equipment. if your device has a implementation, the description should be in the back of the manual somewhere.
