most relaxing song ever created, says "scientists"

It slows your breathing and reduces brain activity to such an extent that Weightless, written by Manchester band Marconi Union, is said to be the 'most relaxing song ever'.

The eight-minute track is so effective at inducing sleep, motorists have now been warned they should not listen to it whilst driving.

The band worked with sound therapists to get advice on how to make the most effective use of harmonies, rhythms and bass lines. The result on listeners is a slowing of the heart rate, reduced blood pressure and lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol.

Someone should link that scientist to slumbr.

I love that slumbr album by the way (I forget who on here wrote it).

the most relaxing thing ive ever heard was a cassette tape my sister had when i was 5 or 6. it was a customized sleep songs for infants thing, the songs were different depending on the names. i wish i could still find it. i hope that guy isn't dead/depressed.

Good marketing.

I would understand this could be the most relaxing track played during that study, but calling it the most relaxing track ever created is a bit too much. Just look at the photo: the subject is a black woman who must certainly not know anything about ambient music (I'm not trying to be racist here). Most of the subjects didn't know ambient music even existed, I bet.

They should really sack these researchers for making such an audacious and easily disproved claim, the only purpose of which was to promote their careers by grabbing media headlines. If they continue as they were it would only be bad for society, short-change if not completely misdirect their future students and rip off the taxpayer.
