o00o
Back when it was new I had the feeling drukqs was pretty fast even too fast. Today I perceive Ziggomatic 17, Vordhosbn and Cock/Ver 10 and pretty slow compared to todays standarts. Why is that? murve33
For me, it was the fastest hardest thing I'd ever heard at the time (Cock Ver 10, Vordhosbn, and the beginning of Mount St. Michael was too fast), in addition to the Box Energy AFX remix. Since then I've listened to V-snares and Merzbow, and a couple of others. And then my friend introduced me to breakcore/speedcore/digital hardcore. And now, thanks to Ganus introducing me to more music, that stuff sounds too slow at times. In conclusion, a lot of music has been made since Drukqs, and we're getting used to it. Guest sirch
Squarepusher was always faster and harder than Aphex Twin, before Drukqs i mean... aswell as Bogdan, and a few others. so it wasn't the fastest hardest stuff i'd ever heard before. Guest viscosity
still, i would take a heavy song (Clark?) over something fast. at a certain point i feel like the dynamics get lost. candlestickmaker
a lot of music may have been made after drukqs, but none matched it. edit: talking about the same genre (drill n bass stuff) Edited October 21, 2011 by candlestickmaker Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide candlestickmaker's signature Hide all signatures soundcloud.com/wearefjord soundcloud.com/mountain-1 soundcloud.com/candlestickmaker Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/69476-drukqs-is-pretty-slow/#findComment-1677540 Share on other sites

Lol, oh yea. I'd heard Richard D. James before Drukqs. 4 and Girl/Boy were pretty quick. Not sure how far back you're thinking though, sneaksta. I suppose all of that candy rave stuff was kind of crazy. And no one said there wasn't. Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, and Datach'i happened to be my introduction to electronic music. I haven't been on the boat very long. sneaksta303
I didn't mean composed by afx necessarily, and was just talking about speed. But yeah, to me Drukqs is the same speed it always was, and just as powerful and lovely. Guest blsked
You should listen to some Mozart. That stuff got really slow in the last 250 years. Candiru
I thought this thread was about the overall pacing of the album. But Ziggomatic? Slow? Nuh uh. solarion
When I tried to play Drukqs tracks in Audiosurf, it would always detect them at half or quarter speed, and you'd get a really leisurely ride. I'm not sure why this is. I'm not sure why this is. Ha, playing Selected Ambient Works vol. 2 is brutal. Rhubarb is ridiculously hard. Then again, I haven't played those songs since 4 years ago, so maybe I just sucked at audiosurf at the time. hardcode
todays standards are actually slower. no one listens to breakcore and/or drum and bass anymore because they go for the low hanging fruit (dubstep). the average music listener is not a thinker.
