All these parody artist names smack of being ironic for the sake of being so - there's no real connection to the artist(s) or the music (although in this case I think the artists in question names' are Tiger and Woods, supposedly. It reminds me of V/VM's Aphex Twin parody stuff. Left a bad taste in my mouth.

Yeah, but Radiohead wasn't named that to be ironic or clever - it was just a word they liked (I don't know the origins of the band's name, so that's just a guess)

There's an actual meaning behind Polygon Window, as is Caustic Window, GAK, etc.

This is a silly argument. T&W is disco edits. Fun music. They have a fun name. The end.

I'm all for cool band names but if the music grabs me then I can live with a shit moniker, and I don't find Tiger & Woods that irritating.

Thanks for the link, by the way. Been wondering what the fuss has been about so I'll check this out (I understand its off-cuts and stuff, but if it's free...).

this music is fantastic

maybe the name is just a way to keep grouchy old cooters out of the cool

tiger & woods is actually way more subtle and nuanced than simply 'disco edits'. I think they call it that to downplay what they are doing. If you track down the sources of a lot of the stuff they sample, their 'edits' are completely original tracks...so awesome.

For example:

samples
