It would have been wicked to have been there in '68 to see the reaction - I know they didn't get much traction at the start of their career, but just to see people standing around going "what the fucking fuck!!"

Best Sabbath cover:

백호야~~~항상에 사랑할거예요.나의 아들.

Shout outs to the saracens, musulmen and celestials.

one of my first favourite bands. i had all the ozzy albums on old worn tapes and never got used to cd-quality versions of their tracks, lol. but thsi is still probably the best guitar riffing ever invented.

First 5 albums are indeed unfuckwithable. Even the 2 Dio albums have some great moments, particulary Sign of the Southern Cross.

Master of Reality is one of the greatest things I've ever heard in my life. I owe a lot to those guys

re: Faith No More, I dunno, I think Corrosion of Conformity did the best Sabbath cover. No, I'm not talking about their "original" material

Sabotage is a weird album don't you think? Hole in the Sky and Symptom of the Universe are brilliant, the rest sort of wanders around a bit lost with no direction. Mind-you I have a feeling there might be a few hidden gems tucked away that perhaps have slipped under my radar.

not just one of the best rock/metal bands to ever exist, but laying the foundation for so many great ones as well. they're a bit like drexciya, establishing a really appealing sounding 'toolkit' that others have used to great effect. bands like electric wizard, dead meadow, void, melvins, boris, black flag etc. or the stoner metal scene in general would have never existed wasn't it for this one band and their incredible cult of riffs. as an aside, i think heaven & hell is fucking excellent. i know there are haters out there, but come off it. it's a superb album, although it's hard to really compare it with any of the ozzy ones.

meanwhile - the local maternity ward - nurse comes in with a great big sledgehammer

I found two of their albums on burned CDRs on the bus a few months ago, and after listening I was like "how the fuck did I go this long without Black Sabbath as a musical staple in my life??" Now I need to find those CDRs again... amazing indeed.

I know!! Well fuck, I only just heard Sex Pistols' Nevermind The Bullocks... in its entirety a week ago. I've got a lot of catching up to do. There's just way too much good music from past eras for me to ever get through it all in this lifetime.

Speaking of Dead Meadow, I saw them last night. Though they opened for another band (my current fav rock band actually) and didn't play a long set. Sleepy Silver Door went from a fairly organized 8 minute song into a 15+ minute jam that took everybody in the room on a psychedelic trip.

Their bass player is fucking good too. Plays a Ric through Orange amps, sounds so nasty and dirty. The growly rick sounds amazing through the already naturally dirty Orange amps.
