Alberto Balsalm sheet music?

Recommended Posts

As everyone surely knows, there is a video on youtube of a high school steel drum band performing Alberto Balsalm that was posted some time ago. I am in a steel drum band at my high school as well, and a few months back, I sent my teacher some of RDJs stuff, a lot of it from Drukqs. He particularly liked Alberto Balsalm. Just a few days ago, he asked me if I could get the sheet music for it so we could play it, and I was certain I could find it, but I can't. I even contacted the youtube user AND the conductor of the arrangement and both were met with unresponse.

Does anyone out there have it? Or know how to transcribe it?

If you can't find sheet music for it, your best chance is probably to manually transcribe the song to MIDI. I'm 100% sure there's hundreds of midi to sheet music converters.

If you don't know how to transcribe songs to midi, it's pretty easy. The way I usually do it is I just pop an mp3 of the song into FL Studio (this is, of course, doable in pretty much any non-tracker DAW of course,) find the right tempo, set up the different midi instruments/channels based on the ones within the song, and play and copy down the notes one by one for each pattern in each part. Once you get in the flow of it, it should only take like, 45 minutes or so.

When was the last time you listened to Alberto Balsalm? It's pretty drum heavy, and percussion heavy. I can clearly see AB played on any drums, let alone steel drums.

Oh, and he pwned you, LOL. Greatest response evar.

Can't find sheet music? -- What a coincidence. -- My company has a service where we do a search for hard-to-find sheet music. We just added this service in October, so it is a brand new service.

Give us a try. Couldn't hurt. There is no cost to fill out the form and give us a shot.

The name of the company is "Lead Sheet Take Down Service."

Go to www.LeadSheet.biz and go to the "hard to find songs" page, and fill out the form. Be sure to give a source, like a YouTube URL, so that we can find an authentic performance of the "right" song.

(Searching by TITLE alone is a poor way of finding a song due to so many songs having identical titles.)

Just so you know, in the spirit of full disclosure:

My company "Lead Sheet Take Down Service" does take-downs ("transcriptions") of audio files to produce sheet music.

We focus on songwriters and composers, i.e., original music, that is, we provide a solution for parties who hold the copyright for the song in question and need their song rendered in the best possible format.

The market we serve is the songwriter community who do not know music notation well enough to create proper sheet music.

Ask for me, Kim Goldsworthy.

We had an ad running in Music Connection magazine in early 2011. We'll be running another series of ads in the early 2012 issues of Music Connection.

NO, I DON'T want the sheet music to Blink-182 song Alberto Balsam about an annoying bouncer at warped tour who prevented T-ravis from getting to his girl.
