SAW 85-92 Vinyl

Hi, sorry, got a quick question about the SAW vinyl. I've been after a copy (the 2006 version) for ages but unwilling to pay over £25 for it, a few have turned up on ebay but these tend to be mostly original 92 presses. Should i definitely go for the 2006 remastered version? Also hard to know which version is which, isn't there another repress that isn't remastered? I've checked Discogs but that just confuses me even more!

I haven't listened to the remasters but everyone seems to agree they did a good job, improving the quality but retaining the original warmth. And the 2006 one is the only existing repress, remastered or not, as far as I know. The only difference between the 1992 and the 2006 one is the remastered sound and the stickers. So it doesn't really matter which one you buy, it's a win-win situation

I bought a an unused copy and the whole 2nd record skips like a motherfucker. Was so pissed.

Over the years the 1992 version was repressed quite a few times, more than is documented on Discogs.

I have both versions i think the remaster does sound better but i found the pressing to be a little crackly in places

shame they didn't press it over more discs to make room for the tracks and improve quality.

The 2006 version has a slightly version of Ptolemy. I don't know why it is so, and I have not heard the original vinyl, but it's at least different than what's on the 2002 CD issue.

what is remastering? they run it through some expensive compressors at a mastering house?

Haha, woops. What I meant to say was different. Right from the beginning, when the beat starts, it's not the same one as on the 2002 CD. I tried to make a small snippet of it with foobar but failed, and I don't have the time for Audacity right now. Soz. Edited December 6, 2011 by 40days

Noticed this today in the ear candy store, "2011 remasters from R&S Records, with a completely different cover. Comes in a four-panel digisleeve.". But I can't seem to find any information on it though.

It's like a relic from an alternative universe where Aphex Twin was a guy who made an album in one weekend after hearing Deadmaus for the first time, fired it up on CDBaby, then quit after it didn't sell any copies & decided to go to Welding School.

Looks like a SAW 85-92 dubstep remix album.

It's definitely got to be one of the worst (if not THE worst) album cover I've seen for any of my favorite musicians. God damn it R&S.

I came across this the other day at the store as well and would have sworn to my mother it was a bootleg based on that horrid cover alone. Plus I didn't see any label info on it.

2011 remaster on R&S is here. Looks nothing like the ebay version.

Only information from the staff about the release was "the catalog # brings up the r&S release but it doesnt look like it. that's why i just said repress".
