quality. i listened a few times, to the first. very very nice.

the second one sounds like your trying to make a personal theme song. one that plays when you enter a room for example. shoort and sweet.

thanks, it's actually (forgot to mention it) a file i had forgotten i found it on my hard drive recently. this version is unfinished and i already posted the finished version a while ago, maybe I should fusion them together because this one's got good bleepy stuff that the actual finished version doesn't have...

The timbres sound so organic and detailed - did you get all the sounds from an actual Atari?

they're all made with maXYMiser (a tracker for atari: http://www.preromanb....com/maxymiser/ ) but they're rendered with jam player under windows (it's a multiplatform player that plays the original atari files emulating the yamaha YM2149 chip that was inside the atari) i plan to render them on my real atari but i just don't have it with me now. jam is a great player for those files though.

jam will only render sndh files. i don't know if sndh are specific to atari, they might be compatible with any machine using the yamaha YM2149 chip, i'm not sure.

to get these sounds you can either use the ymVST that emulates the YM2149:

or you can use ST emulators and your beloved trackers :)

my fave ST emulator is steem: http://steem.atari.st/index.htm

my fave tracker on ST is maxYMiser: http://www.preromanb....com/maxymiser/

you will need a TOS image to run the emulator (TOS = The Operating System), i suggest to download all TOS versions from the steem website. i can't remember which one works best for maxYMiser. try them from most recent to most ancient and try running maxYMiser until you find a TOS that can run it (might be the first try).

you will have to set up a directory to be the emulated ST hard drive, and copy the maxYMiser files there. then once you run the ST you will have to add an icon for drive C (check the menus, see picture attached).

i guess it's simpler to use the vst :)
