he's coming to my school for free which is pretty cool....

but I'm disillusioned with that whole scene... and the show is just going to be filled with shitty hipsters who think FlyLo is it in terms of electronic music. I listed to a couple samples of his stuff and it was alright, but I remember watching that live mix he did someone posted on here and it was really p.u.

thoughts?

youtubes?

If it's free, I don't see a reason not to go. If your money was involved, I would understand why you would create a thread like this.

Samiyam is one of the people who helped jump start the experimental Hip Hop beat scene for everyone else in America after he collaborated with Flying Lotus, since 2008 many beat makers have emerged across the world, more notably Los Angeles. Out of that scene there are a few people that actually stand out from each other. 2 years ago I used to be the biggest Samiyam fan there is, and I still am a fan, just getting tired of his essence-less beats lately. I am no longer impressed by generic wannabe 2006 wonky Flying Lotus beats. Unless your beats have some structure and originality, I'm not listening to you. I can enjoy some Hip Hop, but if it sounds like that one generic style that everyone chooses, extra synthesizer, trying to sound like the beat is in space, repetitive wonky shit.

Samiyam's beats overall are pretty dull, but on the same token he has a certain style that no one can really imitate. At this point Samiyam hasn't really grown much since the "Return EP", most of his beats are extremely repetitive and lack progression.

Rap Beats Vol. 1 is his best album, it's more Madlib-esque, it came out in 2008, the beats are pretty much sampled filled. Everything else is repetitive little creative small ideas that don't really go anywhere. If you want to know what I'm talking about, listen to his latest album, Sam Baker's Album.

Samiyam is nowhere near terrible, or bad, he's been a bit bland lately, but if you were to ever bring up the subject about beat makers in 2007-, Samiyam has to be mentioned.

It's free, and his stuff really isn't bad it just gets a little dull when listening through the album. I'm sure live it'll be a little more interesting and you'll have a good time, and if not hey it was free and you can always just up and leave

See the other thread we're I talked about his very uninspired performance in Berlin. But if it's for free, get fucked up and fool all those FlyLo hipsters.

Check my dusty tunes and mixes over here: https://soundcloud.com/2kn

i'm not gonna go cause I have too much work.

I was going to ask you to convince me why you shouldn't go until I saw this, as I missed DMX Krew last year for similar reasons (wasn't free, but I already had a ticket).

its free. Get drunk and have a good time.

This, I like to listen to his music when I'm drunk and pretend like I'm a real G

I would pay to see Samiyam. Hotbeats. Bamp.

I enjoy the fragility of the rolling lol tbh. The broken lol is like our own mortality staring us in the face, reminding us to enjoy that sunset.
