3d movies and games

anyone have a HDTV for 3D games or movies? My only experience with it is with Avatar in theaters but I could imagine that gaming would be kind of neat with shutter glasses. Looking into getting a new HDTV possibly but not sure if it is really worth the bill. I would probably have to upgrade my video card as well.. Anyone have one of these or try gaming with nvidia vision?

not so fond of having to wear glasses, but I could get used to it I guess. maybe I should just wait till they have a viable non-glasses technology for it, like the 3DS

for those who have tried it (gaming or movies) what's your opinion, gimmicky or is it somewhat worth it?

A friend of mine has some fancy Sony TV with glasses with batteries (active-shutter I think it is?) They give me a headache after a few minutes of use and stereoscopy doesn't add that much. It's gimmicky and a waste of money imo. I certainly recommend to try before you buy.

We have a 3D TV, and while we haven't used it for movies yet (keep wanting to get TRON: Legacy 3DBD but 33.00 is a bit much for a Blu-Ray movie I think), the PS3 games are pretty awesome with it, and for us, our eyes don't get fatigued at all. I still think it's in the "gimmick" phase, simply because nobody yet has created an experience that really utilizes the 3D effect as a part of gameplay (I understand Super Mario Land 3D on the 3DS does, however).

Really ?! And you mean there's also no tooth fairy either, and that thing I watched about a cursed video tape which made people die within 7 days wasn't real either. Guys, you're blowing my mind here :w00t:

  • 3 months later...

Recently received a pair of Playstation 3D glasses for my Sony tv, and damn it's cool. These glasses are the next gen, way cheaper than the heavy Sony G1 glasses, better battery and more comfortable. The image is great and eliminates almost all cross chatter from lenses. Watching Hugo and TinTin have been a blast.

The polarized ones in the cinema I have no problem with, but the shutter glasses give me headaches within a minute or so.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

Yea its still pretty gimmicky, although this 2 players 1 screen stuff is awesome.
