Guest mollekula
Hi guys, ive been thinking about getting one of these machines. Im currently using Cubase but im going to do Ableton in the future. Which one of these guys would you suggest i get: NOVATION LAUNCHPAD (im loving this one, the price is a killer too), AKAI APC 20 or MASCHINE MIKRO? would it work for Cubase for the time being or Ableton is where to make the most of them? Guest mischjok
How about producing on Cubase and then exporting loops into Ableton liVe? that´s how I do it when I feel like jamming to my music. Guest mollekula
$49,968 for a piece? WOW it makes 3 pieces of QuNeo for the price of one LaunchPad!!! hmmm Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/70263-novation-launchpad/#findComment-1703462 Share on other sites
Guest mollekula
looks like its $200 and not $49, stupid of me Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/70263-novation-launchpad/#findComment-1703466 Share on other sites
Guest mischjok
Mikro is great if you´re doing beat-oriented music, such as hip-hop. I wouldn´t buy a maschine mikro. It lacks one screen and knobs. The launchpad is lightweighted, fancy and quite the eye candy. Check out my latest video (shameless self-promotion, I know) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kd7K6j6EWVE&feature=channel_video_title Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/70263-novation-launchpad/#findComment-1703527 Share on other sites
vamos scorcho
something i will never understand about these things [as an owner of an akai apc ableton device] is ... why dont you just compose the whole track scene by scene and do it that way, going down the list triggering it as you go, one press at a time? what reason is there to use all the buttons? i haven't gotten any significant usage from my hardware controller, i see it as being an artificial way to make it appear that i'm really doing more than pressing play, when in reality it is a very small amount Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/70263-novation-launchpad/#findComment-1703528 Share on other sites

By the way, having to press only ONE button at a time would be too easy and boring. I like being able to improvise. Guest mischjok
By the way, I had to laugh when the OP said something about "doing Ableton in the future". I didn´t know one could do DAWs... Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/70263-novation-launchpad/#findComment-1703558 Share on other sites
Guest mollekula
my bad english you see. yet, its obvious that i meant "learn". what you say is out of topic and totally irrelevant. i was asking about controllers and not how good my english is. there are a lot of people out there who can hardly speak english and writing half english half hell knows what. somehow i always understand what they mean and never have the urge to laugh at what they have to say. thanks for the tips anyway Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/70263-novation-launchpad/#findComment-1703604 Share on other sites

Guest iamabe
had APC20 for a month, liked it so much I got an APC40, 100% worth the money. My compositions have way more natural builds, drops, and changes as a result of setting up lots of sends and controls on each track, and then testing out things immediately vs. drawing automation. Launchpad I hear is great, but frnakly I don't much need 8 rows, so I'd take the APC20 instead since it's the same price, and having dedicated Track On / Solo / Record / Faders is 100% worth it. It's bigger than the launchpad but not by that much, and I don't really care for the bigger launchpad buttons. Oh, one other con of the APC20/40 is that it needs an AC adapter, which is annoying, but not a huge deal unless you want the ultimate convenience of taking just launchpad/laptop around to places with no outlets for like hourlong jams. But seriously, the APC40 is completely awesome. APC 40 doesn't have the "note" mode that the 20 does, but that is pretty worthless IMO. 747Music
I just bought the APC40. Absolutely can't wait to get it. All the reviews are really positive for it, and I found it on sale $50 off. On that note, I also just bought, today, the MPK49, also on sale for $60 off + free shipping. But anyways, the APC40 is apparently really really good, as iamabe has said. I'm so pumped to get these two items.
