ya that is really expensive. If it were a kit it would be like $160 like that one in the favorite synths thread.

this updated firmware looks pretty damn cool. but did it adds this synth functions to the original bit crushing / filtering effects ??

if that's the case, then it becomes something really quiet unique. I was already interested in the original oto effect but I thought it was kinda expensive.

but if it's really still the amazing effects with the new synth functionalities, then it becomes quite a good price for what it can do !!

tell me cause the website is not clear enough for me lol

So let me get this correct - this is a mono synth for £400 ... seriously fuck that lol.

no its the best stereo bitcrusher/filter/wavedhaper you can get with a free monosynth update that also has a funky sequencer

yes, I knew I was right ! that's what I wanted to hear.

it's pretty much the price you need to pay for all of this I guess. I've played with the biscuit some time ago (before the synth thing) and it really is an amazing effects processor !

but I think that when you update to the new firmware it actually re-purposes the box, and is no longer an effect module. Since everything it does happens on the chip you can basically rewrite the software to do anything. It's only limited by the inputs and number of buttons.

I think that it really over priced though still even though it looks really unique. All the cost has been put into the enclosure no doubt. Those rubber buttons are expensive, especially when they have to be made on size for the box. The chip, pcb and all the parts would be no more than 100 euro really. I bet the firmware is pretty well thought out though as the whole upgrade is done by a sysex dump! That's some gnarly modular code.

Still if the whole thing were built from commercially available parts (and it could be for sure) it would be like 150 euro.

your forgetting the full midi control, silky smooth analogue filter and stereo processing which puts it a notch above any fancy fx pedals, next to some of the one trick moog pedals and noisy metasonix its not that expensive for a very well developed bit of ki.

sure you could cut costs but you could also spend a lot more on a lot less, its hard to explain the subtle variations over various dynamic ranges that you get both in and out when you get into it and the asthetics do make it more pleasing to use which is important with decent hardware these days

sure my kaoss3 also does bitcrushing too but compared to the Biscuit its like a 50cc scooter next to Hyabusa, sold my sherman 2 to get one of these and ive never looked back.

But nowadays for that kind of skrill I can get a used Monomachine.

Sorta apples and oranges I guess but monosynth with step sequencer + stereo fx processor... times 6... hmm. For my purposes, anyway, it's no contest.

I've already got a monomachine and sequencing the Biscuit with the MIDI machines CC p/locks is pretty freaking sweet.

Yeah both would be cool. If I had to pick one though I know which it'd be.

I'd totally be the same boat in fact if I could only have one bit of kit it would be the MnM every time but as far as boutique FX processors go OTO have really made something very usable, unique and worth every penny tho I did get mine cheaper 2nd hand.

lol, damn, not to derail this thread even further but thanks for the confirmation. I have been lusting for one of these for an embarrassing amount of time now, like 6 years. I've felt lately that it's time I get one, especially now that the used prices have dropped so much.
