Did Shobaleader One ever tour as a band?

the band and the touring. not you.

the project is in limbo.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

Have we proofs that Shobaleader One is really a band? Could it be just Squarepusher and Alex something (the drummer I mean) ? I find this "story" of the young men contacting Squarepusher and wanting to do an album with him (that's what he said for justifying d'Demonstrator right ?) a little bit surprising and maybe not so credible.

Squarepusher probably hoped people would love that album so much that he'd be famous enough to cycle talented musicians in and out of the various instrumental positions for shows.

or he just wanted to pull another The Tuss

It definitely wasn't recorded with a full band. He only said that so we would listen to the album in that context.

wasn't there some sort of super-detailed article about recording shobaleader one where he admits that it's all him? i vaguely remember something like this.

I remember that no one believed that to be true at the time. do we believe it now for some reason?

ZOMG! Lazerz pew pew pew!!!!11!!1!!!!1!oneone!shift+one!~!!!

i was really taken with the album when it came out and i hoped that it would catch on. some of the songs have this subtle quality, an evolved form of the JAS quality, like compact pre packaged songs of future galaxies. i honestly think that people are too stupid to understand and are happier when everything is sidechained, where the main structure of a song is a gold panda .4 second sample repeated ad infinitum. people saying that "it sounds like daft punk" are so idiotic. the only similarity is the robotic garb.

and the whole LED face was awesome. it's just the type of thing where you have a few people behind it, but Tom just lost steam after he watched Fantano and pitchfork pan his labor of love.

i'm pretty sure SP doesn't peruse the WATMM warrens, but my heart goes out.

are you with me, pigster and backson?

I don't think Tom jenkinson gives a shit what those inferiors think, why would he? Why would anyone?

Autechre Rule - Queen are Shite

i can kinda see how such a cold respons to his 'band' would stop him from going further with the project. his booking menager said probably something like 'yaaah, nobody wants to pay for that, just go solo'.

I have a similar feelings. Shobaleader is all in good fun. If I were going to make babby with a robot, I would make babby with Shobaleader playing.

i wonder why he doesn't tour with a band setup very much, especially now with his stuff being so bandish sounding. Did he tour with a band for Music for the rotted one note?

and to reply to sheatheman, i think it's more a case of for a lot of people at least myself that we just thought Shobaleader One was the worst piece of music he ever released. Worst in the sense that his lyrics are poor, his choice of sound palette is questionable (piccalo snare on every track really?, nasally bass guitar distortion?) and the construction overall i think was very saccharine even for some of the biggest pop fans here. I couldn't give a shit if he copied Daft Punk or not (he probably did a little bit honestly)

You are the only person in the world that would buy tickets to see them live.

this exactly. even though i still like the album, only a few tracks a very distinctively good other than just being interesting. the songwriting is actually really good in terms of the melodies and chord progressions , but the sound palette is not particularly great. like having the 909 as the only drums on the album, really? it gets tiring.
