Is anyone following CWC these days?

Recommended Posts

I've been following Chris for ages intermittently, but these last couple months have been a real roller coaster for the Chandler family. I've become a bit obsessed.

Bob sadly died in September, which must have caused more problems in the Chandler house. So much so that this happened:

  Quote
On that fateful Friday evening, around 5:20 p.m., Chris and Barbara visited the GAMe PLACe and had an altercation with its manager, Michael Snyder. Chris took several photos of Michael on that day, and uploaded them to the CWCki in November. A bit of a delay, but it turns out, he and Barb had been arrested and jailed for various offenses (trespassing, assault, and hit & run). Now both have been charged with a Class 5 Felony, which implies "a term of imprisonment of not less than one year nor more than 10 years, and ... a fine of not more than $2,500."

The hearing is tomorrow! I'm anxiously awaiting the outcome, but I honestly have know idea what they'll say. Anyone else been following?

I'm an unashamedly Chris-Chan obsessive and this is by far the weirdest I've ever seen his story fold out.

As much as he needs to be taught a lesson (it's obvious he holds no remorse for his actions, the uploading of those pics of Snyder and accusing him of being a child molester pretty much proves it), I'm kinda hoping he doesn't get hauled to prison. If anything these past few months have shown he's probably not mentally stable enough to cope in prison and will unlikely reform him, if not completely destroy him. IMO the best outcome would be if the courts decide to put him into specialist care; if this case has proven anything it's that his mother's influence is highly negative and his home is not an appropriate environment for him to be living in (nor has it ever been, really).

yes I agree. Barb and their bug infested house are completely unacceptable. For fucks sake Bob was hospitalized before he died due to bug bites! But I guess I'm not really over how very real a turn in his life this has been. The sad part is I'm not sure he knows it either. I can imagine him getting specialized care, but I can also see the long arm of the law not giving a fuck about him and sending him into unfortunate places.

Chris Chan 2009-mid 2010 was probably the funniest stuff I've seen on the internet (and a contender for craziest, too). He's done funny stuff since then, & keeps getting weirder with the crossdressing stuff, but it surfaces so rarely these days.

There are tons of people like him online though, it's just that most are too lazy to bother screaming at Youtube for an extended period

^Yeah but what I mean is there was a time when it seemed like the chris chan crazy train was picking up passengers every day for weeks, but now it's just a few times a month & usually nothing as exciting as a 7 minute long video about identity theft, how to properly appreciate the female form, or making out with a PS3.

this is worth months in my book

^Yeah, that was one of the times where you almost want to believe this is some elaborate art project because it's too insane to be real, but that debate has been closed for a few years pretty much

the guy certainly seems bereft of any healthy social interaction, and has been so for years. i was obsessed with him as well but had to stop because i couldn't shake the feeling that he would go ultra nuts and act out violently....like shoot up a store violent.

In a way I'm not as interested in him as I am in the whole sphere surrounding him. The wiki, Clyde Cash, Surfshack Tito, the trolls en masse, it's amazing. I mean someone has transcribed the better half of some 400 Chris videos. For what purpose? Just to see where he grunts? Highly bizarre social phenomenon to me. And of course the wiki itself enters another level because Chris himself has the ability to edit it. Which makes it both an incredibly obsessive documentation of past events, itself removed from its subject, while simultaneously entering into that sphere and becoming its own subject. :wtf:

There is a NYT magazine article to be written about this I feel.

I've been watching this stuff snowball since 2008 & I have no idea how anyone just finding it now could make heads or tails of it

This thread is my introduction to this whole phenomenon. It just kind of makes me sad. That isn't a condemnation of anyone who is fascinated by/lolling at this guy, but... ah, shit's fucked up. Dude needs help.

Reports coming in are saying that another criminal and civil hearing has been scheduled for 5th January. I'm not exactly familiar with the US legal proces, but it looks like this whole case could take a while to resolve.

It is kind of sad in a way. Dude's like a Shakespearian tragic hero that poops himself

for me it's a mixture of so many emotions, and yes sad is definitely one of them. And yes Chris obviously needs help, that's been clear since day dot, but there are thousands of cases like him that go unnoticed. A clearly unhealthy family situation for someone who has some social deficiencies. It's not unusual, yet Chris and CWCville are the paragon of unique, there is nothing like this in the world, nothing with this much scope and time and information. It's fascinating!
