American Horror Story

Have you guys been following this show at all? I wish I'd started this thread earlier in the season, but shit is getting incredibly wild in the series. Granted, the penultimate episode of the first season just aired last night, so there won't be a lot to talk about after a week from now, but any of you guys watching? btw connie britton is kind of hot.

never heard of this. but i gotta ask. isn't "penultimate" a term for the second-to-last-one? this confuddles me, cos i often see "penultimate" when someone means "ultimate/last" -- which obviously disrupts my flow. any semanticians here? fred? (i didn't say sementician).

this show is totally nuts. borderline unwatchable for me because of the content. my wife loves it though and i have watched the last few. very good show but makes me uncomfortable.

No, that's precisely what I mean—the second-to-last episode of the first season just aired last night; the last will air on the 21st.

Haha so fucking true. especially the most recent episode—things are really coming to a head with the family. I feel like I'm still missing part of the story with Constance, but perhaps not.

This show is definitely a trip. It was crazier at first when you had no idea what was real/ghost, but now it's a little bit calmer as I've got my head around things. It sucks so many shows are going to finale next week, making me wait..... My gf said this show really creeps her out, so much that she doesn't really like to go to bed by herself after we watch it lol. She told me she sees the creepy guy in the S&M suit in the shadows of our bedroom

Haven't watched it yet, but I plan on it when it comes out on dvd

i love this show, every-time i think ive worked a character out BAM! something happens that shits all over my view, it is face meltingly good, plus the young house maid is the hottest thing on tv atm.

Yeah, Alex Breckenridge is ridiculously attractive and makes you feel awful about your inescapable bon0r. That's good writing/acting.

I thought this was gonna be about the state of American politics.

The first couple of episodes was kinda good/scary, but from about the fourth I realised that this is crap. As Jules, I´ve continued to watch it because my wife loves horror stories. And also because I wonder how they can wrap up such a incredibly stupid story. People fucking ghosts. Ghosts fucking ghosts. Ghost fucking ghosts who doesn´t know they´re ghosts. There are many other series you should watch instead. Wouldn´t recommend it.

last nights episode was fucked.....but you're right, the first few episodes were great but getting a little predictable now.

PS. the woman who plays Constance is a great actress

Its a good effort, there isn't much horror on TV today, The one thing this show had in common with the Walking Dead is way too much mommy talk. For a horror show to succeed in 2011 there must be 50 percent of the plot about some pregnant woman.

I only came in to this thread to say that penultimate means one before the ultimate so, basically, when referring to this show, it would be the second to last episode of the season.

"next to the last" if you will.

i too am surprised to hear that so many people apparently misuse "penultimate". and also, connie britton = not hot. alex breckenridge = Yeah.

i remember seeing the commercials for this and thinking it was going to be a show about an american family who was heavily into S&M

To be fair to myself, I've never misused the word penultimate since I've never used it. I heard it used once back in 97 though by some Nancy boy. Thought it was a shit word. Spent the next 4 years training my eyes to automatically jump over it without signalling my brain if I ever came across it in text. In fact I'm not sure what we're even talking about right now.
