Abelton question about midi mapping the impulse machine

I bought a korg nanopad ages ago and plugged it in and windows was like LMGTFY and installed the drivers and was like woah. then i assigned it to a sampler machine and it triggered notes fine and dandy. then i tried to assign it to an impulse machine - the thing i use for all my tracks beats and hit midi map and the only thing you can't assign and trigger is the samples - sure its nice to be able to tweak the decay but if I can tap out a beat on the pads then what is the point in this thing? am I doing it wrong? I had a good look around on youtube tutorials but no-one is doing it.

so in summary: in abelton how do you trigger individual beat samples in an impulse machine?

the impulse machine has to receive MIDI input from the USB driver-disk. if you don't have the original disk, try looking for bootleg drivers on the internet or just fix up one of those SCSI-hackjobs with spare cables. anyhow, once you got the baud-rate streamed you should get a signal input. output the signal input back thru your M-audio device and you'd be good to go. (obviously you don't want it to hook into a feedback-loop there, tho).

see this ^^

so why can't i select the 1st sample there to trigger when i hit a pad?

hihi.

okay, sorry, i'd suggest checking out your midi input from the korg with a diagnostic tool like midiOx: midiox.com.

Are you sure the pad is mapped to the proper MIDI note? ie Pad 1 = C3, Pad 2 = D3, Pad 3 = E3, Pad 4 = F3, etc

not quite sure how i got it to work but i pressed "scene" so it has scene 2 highlighted and now it works. i'm guessing scene is octave so I can hitting C2 and I needed to be hitting C3. thanks for the help everybody

so mid map is always there if have the impulse selected. goddamn it.
