if KJ Sawka sounded like this in his actual releases, I would listen to him, because this is fucking great.

He plays in Pendulum now

Lol, I saw the thread title and thought "this thread better have some KJ Sawka in it".

I saw KJ Sawka solo live in a club. It was intense. It was just him on a drumkit occasionally adjusting bass warbles with one hand on a laptop. It was more hardstyle than jungle like the OP vid, but still awesome.

Pendulum is meh, though. Totally underutilizes this guy.

a loooong time ago i approached KJ about doing a vinyl called 'acoustic drum and bass' which would be just him multitracking overhimself with only acoustic drums and no editing. We got very close to doing the project and then he blew the fuck up and it ended up being one of those situations where i just couldn't afford to pay what he was asking for at that point. It was too bad because in my imagination it was a really cool project

  • 1 year later...

Of all the drummers that play DnB/jungle KJ Sawka nails the kit sound the best. I hate to say it but I like his nasty ragga snare sound way better than Jojo Mayer's.

Though IMO playing-wise Jojo is much more able to replicate the chops of programmed DnB/jungle.

and of course:

I once saw Roni Size's "Breakbeat Era" project do a live show, which had 2 drummers, 2 bass players, a saxophonist, 2 MCs, singer and Roni Size on the decks / effects. Stunning does'nt come close.

Wish there were live videos of their show about, would love to see it again. Was around 1998 - 2000 time.
