Recommend me Beautiful Tracks

It's hard to explain, but I'm going for a very specific sound/flow. I've been craving this kind of sound lately, and I haven't been able to get it from my goto artists like Leyland Kirby or Clara Rockmore.

It doesn't have to have backwards samples (I just happen to like them) or be in E major (it just happens to be my favorite key), I'm just drawn to those elements.

0:58 is my favorite part, but you need to listen to the whole song to build to that moment.

The sample + string samples is the element I'm talking about.

Any suggestions?

I like both of these, and I'll definitely listen to them again. They aren't quite what I'm looking for though.

Hell, maybe it is the backwards strings and the E major that are giving me such a mind boner.

Keep them coming though.

Ah! Found some more examples that have the same flow/movement of what I'm looking for. I wish I could just say it in words, but I can't figure out how. My girlfriend and I were able to explain to one-another though, which was nice.

Start at 3:22 to get into the flow, and the moment is at 3:39. The feeling happens so quick in this song sadly.

Dunno if you're up on The Ghost Box stuff at all but:

there's probably something I'm forgetting that I'll recall as a I doze off when I go to bed, oh well

I'm liking all of these songs, and I'll probably end up listening to half of them in the future, but none of them have the feeling I'm looking for.

The tracks feel like they are stretching toward the beat or there is a delay or something. Flying Lotus sort of does this, but more with beats vs. phrases. The best example I've given is probably Gold Panda's "You." (none of gold pandas other songs on the album achieve this as far as I know).

With that said, there doesn't have to be an actual "beat". The Odd Nosdam track and the Clint Mansell track both don't have any drums or a beat. The Odd Nosdam one doesn't have much of a concrete time signature even.

"Stretch" is the word I keep thinking. Or "Reaching". Or "Flow". I'll post more examples if I think of any.

Keep the suggestions coming though, because these tracks are pretty cool either way.

Edit: Joshuatxuk: Broken Drum is a pretty good example. There are parts that have that feeling I'm looking for. I hadn't heard that Radiohead song before either.

I think the way backwards samples put things off-beat is the reason that many of the songs I've posted with the feeling I'm going for contain backwards samples.

0:28 sort of has the feeling. How the drone sets one long tone while the beats do their own thing in a way. Not really a "beautiful" song though.

To me the prettiest songs are the ones where the prettiness shines through a whole lotta ugly. Don't get me wrong, songs with virtuoso instrumentals or big emotional string swells can be really nice, but my favourites are the ones where it's somebody with a wonky voice or somebody playing what at first sound like some pretty goofy instruments, but when you pay close attention you realize hey, there's feelings & shit in this! Ugly songs have a sense of dynamism I don't find as much in straight out "nice" sounding music (see music school graduates playing classical music, twee rock). Examples:

Okay I guess that last one had strings in it but DOOM singing is what really does it for me

love that song. I feel the same way about this track. There's a lot of emotion at the end of each part before the chorus, in different ways...

Coincidently both tracks are both Isaac Hayes samples. I had quite the mindfuck when I heard this...

It's silent for the first 30 seconds, that's how the song goes.

Christina Aguilera has always scared the shit out of me. I remember seeing her for the first time when I was really young when that Lady Marmalade remake was really popular, and I was terrified.

'Beautiful' is SO tough to isolate for multiple reasons... As far as modernity is concerned, there's this...

Then, if you cast production zest to the side, there is something like this...
