wouldnt an ipad and an alesis dock be a wiser investment?

there's some reviews of the alesis dock not being very compatible w/ ios 5...

though they do look nice. i just picked up an irig midi earlier this week, but haven't had much time to play w/ it yet. animoog doesn't respond to my midi keyboard all that well at the moment, but i've probably just gotta work out some kinks.

also from what i gather, promo feels that the ipad is too big for mobile-music-making. i do not agree. i regularly write groovy nonsense w/ iMaschine on the bus. easy way to kill time and get ideas out really quickly. bumpy roads on the bus do make jamming out on the touch-screen keys a bit more challenging than it should be, but i've just got one more reason to tell the mayor to repair the streets in my town now :P

Dunno I might get it or might not as I'm a bit underwealmed with my Irig Midi so will just have to see. Its probably gonna be £150 in the UK so I'll decide nearer the time.

I'm not anti Ipad. I mean don't get me wrong lol if someone got me one I'd make use of it its just an Iphone or Ipod Touch has greater portability personally for me. E.g if I'm bored at work I can just slip it in my pocket and go to the toilet to make some music - not so easy with an Ipad. Or if I'm walking down the street I can jam as on my way to wherever again not so easy with an Ipad. :-)

that's true. I guess I just try to stay fairly aware of my surroundings when I'm walking down the street. If I started jamming on my phone I'd probably walk into a tree. the bigger screen on the ipad really is a nice plus. (and yeah, actually, the only reason I have one is because it was given to me from a distant relative who "didn't like it" )

This is new from Tascam and cleverly acts as an Ios and traditional usb/midi interface. Comes in at a hefty £160 price tag tho! :O Nice design though I have to say and at lot pretty to looks at than the Iconnect Muse.

Dunno lol. I'm think about going for the Iconnect Muse as I can finally have line in and out plus ability to use a mini usb keyboard. Gotta say though I'm a bit confused that its powered via network cable surely an internal lithium battery would have been far more sensible?1!?!?
