I've only a limited amount of experience with their hardware, borrowed one of their sound cards for a while from a mate. It was really quite good, pretty good build quality and decent sound quality. Not exactly a Motu but not as shitty as most M audio things.

No surprise they're concentrating more on the hardware side, I mean, no piracy issues for a start which must be quite refreshing for a software company. Besides everyone and their mum is making variants on the X times X button grid thingy, was obvious NI would get in on that action, relatively 0 R&D time required.

New Reaktor would be great, but wouldn't hold your breath. I don't think any revisions of it would ever bring in enough new users to justify the man hours required, not good business sense. unless of course they really opened it up, started integrating visual processing as many have been asking for years! Would be amazing, but a very lengthy development time, a long way off I think. Traktor must surely be their best selling package, so it's really no shocker that it gets the most regular updates. Boring though it is.

that demo video is terrible btw, I mean in so far as demoing functions all I see it doing is triggering sounds in Traktor, is that it?! probably not, but they've hardly showed it off. also, that music is fkn terrible. "generate the future of sound" is becoming more laughable every day

This! I hate their website and they do the worst promo videos by far. Do you remember the one with Grandmaster Flash and Richie? That was a good laugh!

Besides I'm quite keen to try out the latest Traktor. Cause all the sampling and stuff and the possibility of recording loops live on the fly and use them directly... that sounds very cool.

I also would be interested in getting to know which console you digital DJs out here use and why? I use the Behringer BCD 3000 which really feels shit but does its job, also is a 2x2 soundcard (very bad quality, but nevermind) and it is cheap as fuck. The Numark controllers feel way better, but the cheap one doesn't have enough knobs for the effect section. Strange.
