iTunes Match

So in the UK this has been released, and it does seem a pretty good deal for £21.99 per year. At the moment all my music is based on my laptop (because I use it the most) and it's done a pretty good job at filling the HD. So if I went to Match I could back up my music onto an external drive and free up my laptop hard drive (I hope, anyway).

So has anyone used it? Any thoughts/views/issues?

Some people already gave their opinions here :

I'm not using any "iDevice" beside my computer so this isn't interesting for me, but overall the concept looks great.

What the - Can you not do this anyway by copying and pasting mp3s ?! Every time I learn something new about iTunes the more I'm glad I never touched the bugger ....

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

At the moment I keep my music on my laptop (for listening to, and putting on my iPhone), and I back my music up on an external drive. However with iMatch I could free up my laptop space because I'll have my physical backup on my external HD, but I'll just download albums/music from the cloud as and when I want to listen to them, on whatever computer or device I'm currently using. So basically my laptop will be full of the music I listen to a lot, but free of the music that I listen to quite rarely (but it's there if I want to listen to it, much more easily than moving it over from another harddrive).

Yes, iTunes is very very shit

Cheers for the link StocKo

Ah gotcha, I thought you meant that iTunes didn't allow you to make backup copies on external drives

To be fair it makes backing things up a lot more complicated than it should ever be.
