Hey guys, I made a search on google and the search engine on watmm and couldnt find any thread about this. I know some people think its bullshit, personally I don't have an opinion, but my experience with music is full of imagery.

For example, for some reason, "Xtal" is pink and rose in an intense way, everything about it seems soft-pink and I don't see why I think fo that really, and I've seen several music videos with that song, but I allways go back to a dark place filled with pinky fog and shit.

I'm sure this has been talked about around here, and its probably a lame discussion, but this isnt about that, in this thread we just share every strong imagery we associate with a specific music.

again, i don't really hate skrillex as much as i hate the people that think that sort of music has any sort of integrity. i try to be open minded, and a lot of the time i employ a "well, each to his/her own" attitude towards personal preferences such as music taste and who knows, maybe it is original in its own way, sorta like a drawing by an autistic kid.

I get this quite a bit, especially when making music. It's a good thing, I don't know what else to say. My favourite music looks pretty much like antichrist (the film). I may be nuts.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

That's so sad. I mean, you don't need to have synesthesia to do that, do you? I don't think I have it... But it's a natural thing to, most imagery comes on its own.

I don't have much with snares....Idk why and its one of the artists I listen to the most.

Usually it's just an emotion rush and I try to follow the beats and glitches. In flashforward I think He tried to built something really new (the main explosion) something like an organism. I still don't fully comprehend that part and i've listened to it alot.

The thing about synesthesia is that it's different for every person who has it. They have very specific colors for letters and notes, and the intensity of the color-sense association varies. I know someone very close who has it, and she doesn't like to disclose it to many people, especially since they misunderstand what it is and claim "oh I have that," not getting that it's an involuntary thing. You can't control it, it's just part of everyday life. Most people don't even realize it until they're older.

There are certain songs she'll hate because they're atonal in a very extreme way. She found "Polynomial-C ridiculously intense, I actually had to turn it off when it played in my car. Certain letters and words (because of their combinations) are also uglier or prettier even if they sound lovely or ugly to the average person. Likewise, other people are known to have tastes and touch associated with different colors. Anyway, I know RDJ has always been suspect to be a synesthesiac (I know that thread is somewhere on watmm...), and Jimmy Edgar, Pharell, and a few others have mentioned having it.

I had to cut off my own ears because my Synthesthesia was getting so bad, every time I heard a drum beat I saw Winnie the Pooh drift into my room & start thrusting in my general direction.

I never got it until I smoked tons of weed and listened to Room(s). That's one of the main reasons I like the album so much. Now that I know how it works, I have been getting it a bit more often (still only while high) and with different music. The way that it works is that I see different waves and shapes of color that represent the different elements of the song in my head when I close my eyes. They appear in my head where I percieve them to be in the stereo field. It actually helps a lot to keep the different elements of a tune seperate for me.

also it's worth mentioning that the "waves" of sound flow in the direction that they are coming from in the stereo field. like, if there was a pad or white noise or something in a song panned perfectly in the center, then the waves would be flowing towards me, and if they were panned to the right, they would be flowing towards the center

Ok, so the boat horns are actually two warriors. The higher pitched sound represents the "light side" or the good guy. The deeper horn is the dark, bad guy. The sound of the horns are the battle tactics of each side/warrior. I watch them battle as I listen to the song. It gets quite epic towards the end, when the nice smooth synth comes in. try it.

I don't find it sad, but then again I don't know what it would be like. I would consider it an advantage because it helps me focus solely on the music.

I can't dissociate music with visual or snsorial experience....I though that was the most important in it.

If I am really stoned and in a lucky state of mind sometimes music can catalyze some hypnagogic imagery's that seem to churn out of nothing and then vanish at the slightest conscious observation of them.

yes, absolutely. I get this too. It's fucking amazing.
