MPC Fly

Discuss. I have mixed feelings... on one hand i think if you have an ipad why not just bang out right on the actual app they are mentioning there? i know you could go on about velocity and the feel of hardware, but i mean...it's an ipad so realistically you aren't going to be boarding up your studio for it any time soon. On the other hand if you think of it as an ipad case with pads built in that's pretty dope i guess.

An affordable and dirt simple module with 8 of those touch sliders would be really fun. The market looks so fatigued by these politically correct mongrel midi controllers.

These touch sliders look really fine. But that's all. The MPC Fly will be way too expensive I guess, at least for its little use. And I don't get that AKAI finally tries to get so digital with probably their own shit software. For example, Reason has the Kong Module, which interacts really nice with any MPC-like device. Probably other Software does this as well. I don't need new shit software from AKAI. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think so.

Looks good in a sense but as others have pointed out it ain't really adding much to an Ipad's existing functionality. Does look pretty though and I like the laptop feel of it but yeah its obviously gonna be silly expensive. Should come with some sort of usb/midi/audio interface then it would have a bit of an edge.

I think its kinda redundant as you have no interfacing options once the MPC Fly is plugged in and realistically the standard mini jack out quality isn't that great compared to line out. I honestly think if it had a few usb slots plus pro audio in and out then they'd have created a winning product!

For those rich/fortunate enough to afford an Ipad after buying their computer-- an MPD for your Ipad.

which is good because lugging a 15" laptop and an MPD is daunting to my scoliosis...

You can get an Ipad cheap off Gumtree. I sniff around there often and I'm half tempted to get one but then I can do everything on my Ipod Touch. When Ipad 3 comes out hopefully the prices will drop for £200-250 for a basic Ipad 2 at which point I might consider getting one.
