Turntable plays Music from Tree-Rings

Looks like a laser-turntable reads the rings and sends requisite data to software where the collected parameters of the tree-rings are converted into a piano composition. I would like to hear this done with more objects!

i thought we were going to listen to the actuall ribs in the wood slices (disc)

but instead it sounds consonant. there must be something programed to do that...

Yeah, I wish they had made more of an attempt to describe the technology involved and how it was utilized.
