I can't stand over-reaction to cop or war stories without knowing the full context of said story.

I'm not saying this is one of them, but personally I can't stomach picturing myself in a situation where I feel like the only thing I can do is actually shoot another person and then have the whole world call me an asshole without feeling what I felt in that split second that felt like kill or be killed. I imagine it is something you wouldn't wish on anyone.

There was a far, far less severe but notable case of police brutality/excessive force in Austin this New Year's Eve. This guy (Antonio Buehler) was cuffed and arrested for filming a cop aggressively arresting a DWI suspect downtown. Ironically the whole thing was filmed across the street by another bystander. The cop claims the suspect approached him and spat in his face (which they stop claiming but did not apologize for) and also claimed his filming was illegal. He didn't resist, and he's a very tall ex-Army Ranger who is now a local teacher. So now the guy is trying to get a felony charge dropped.

Instead of some kind of discussion or reasonable action, both sides are just pissed off and not backing down. He wants them fired, which is excessive imo, since it's likely the woman being arrested was being difficult and the cops were probably just tired and pissed off. The police department has been very arrogant and flat out denying the two officers did anything wrong, and they won't release the dash cam of the incident. The APD could of easily forced the cops to do more training or have some kind of community meeting for citizens to ask questions and vent, and dropped charges on the man they wrongly arrested. He would then likely not press to have the police department fire two officers. So basically, instead of some kind of compromise and "learned lesson" being made, the issue is festering. I'm sure this shooting will also just become another tragic example of inaction. I imagine nothing but anger and denial to be made until people forget about it, or another citizen is shot dead by the police somewhere else. Man the justice system sucks.

the ny post is in many ways equal to the national enquirer. they have more headline writers and bunko photoshop artists that actual columnists. I'd say they spend more time on their back page than the rest of the paper.
