The Samps

Anyone into this group? I downloaded their first EP ages and ages back but never listened to it. Ended up listening to it the other day and wow, what a great release! Thinking of buying the 12".

Totally fits into the VHS Head niche, with a touch of Mr Oizo's warped disco.

They're very good—has the ex-keyboarder from Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti if I'm not mistaken. Definitely good stuff, although they don't have nearly enough released material yet.

It looks like they did two EPs in 2010 called "The Samps". I've been listening to the one with Wizard's Sleeve. Anyone heard the other one?

Agree, these guys need to release more stuff. Maybe they alternate between Ariel Pink and this...?

Also, if there's anything else like this people know of I'm all ears. For instance, Phono Ghosts and White Mask need to release something on wax.

Matrix Metals is excellent as well. He released an EP with L.A. Vampires (Amanda Brown, who runs Not Not Fun records) which was really good too, although the vocals rub me the wrong way.

And his material as Other Limits Recordings is rad as shit too.

Thanks Chax, but I think that's a bit too washed out compared VHS heady stuff. Ade's tracks tend to have a solid groove behind the nostalgia.

So fucking Pay Pal cancelled my fucking order of the Samps 12" because apparently my card is linked to another account. Fuck them, I want my Samps on wax!

This band's album swings between really good choppy tracks, and really mediocre washed out synth stuff.
