Sometimes I get "mouse arm" or "table elbow" from too much music making on standard peripherals so I will switch to the gamepad control for awhile, with desired key macros mapped to the buttons.

Its awkward at first but things get really quick and easy with the right joystick speed/resolution, depending on the task. It's also a good way to shake things up keep things interesting as well.

I'm not sure what benefits there are to registering, it works fine without.
