Olson (Midland re-edit)

Known Boc confidant DJ Food / Strictly Kev drops a "Midland re-edit" of Olsen (sic) in his mix for Solid Steel this week - hour 2, about 36:00 in. By the show description I reckon it's Kev's re-work of the original, but anyway its a really fucking good and definitely worth a download / listen. Whole mix is quite good actually.

Nice. Love the groove he's given Olson, and the way he mixes it into Kraftwerk.

Sorry mate, I just thought "Midland" was a reference to the Midlands of England or something (you know like artists will sometimes entitle their remixes "So'n'so's Dirrty South Fart-tastic Re-rub" or something), didn't realize it was the artist. Will have to check out his stuff!

Nice remix - hadn't heard Olson in ages, so it was nice to hear a classic done justice.

sometimes side-chaining works (I think Com Truise is getting awfully close to the line of being obnoxious with it though), but in this particular case it definitely doesn't work for me.

It's a "chillwave" trademark imo, at least when it was all hyped up in 2009. Toro Y Moi's is really excessive in my opinion. Actually turns me off to a degree. On the other hand it worked well on Washed Out's "Feel It All Around," but he seemed to dial back a bit on his last album.
