sorta funny. but I think less so because it's "Time" doing it. I would bet that countries glean a lot more of their impressions as to what the American populace in general thinks about them from their magazines, etc., and vice versa, which I think is an argument against publications ridiculing leaders, etc., just to get someone to pay $4.99 for their rag. not to say that the above is bad at all, but I'm sure there are other occurences out there that angered others because of the widely-heard satirical opinion of one magazine or newspaper.

i really hope we all learn to get along.

There was a good spot on the Daily Show the other day about Time international vs Time USA and their cover stories.

Suffice it to say, I became a little bit more educated about the propaganda machine.

thought it was pretty retarded and patronising, even if he is a dictator.

yeah that's my first reaction. It got a brief lol but then I remembered dude might start WW3. Besides nothing will ever top "So Ronery" from Team America...

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work!

So i hope this woman is not like kfc chicken, otherwise she'll be pulled to pieces.

i still cannot believe that Santorum is heading for a possible nomination.

chen you got room for a renter up there?

ahahaha

According to Santorum, the elderly in Holland wear bracelets saying "do not euthanize me!". The was kind of big news here in Holland. And everyone was like "WTF!? Where did he come across that load of crap?". He's probably hallucinating facts from trance inducing incense. Someone like that should not be allowed to be in the drivers seat of the US.

Santorum has been spouting out the most vile and retarded shit the last few days it boggles my mind that he could even be considered to be the nominee. If he by some miracle wins the nomination, Obama wouldn't even need to do much campaigning, he would just need to run the various idiocies said by Santorum on the TV. It seems to me that the GOP and the conservatives believe that the vast majority of Americans share their values and a failure to get the presidency will only make them double down on their insanity hoping to get their message across.

Halfway through it and it's chilling me to the bone. I can remember reading an excerpt a long time ago but I found it for $6 at a second-hand bookstore and it's a hell of a read.

I really like Time though. Fareed Zakaria and Joe Klein are always on point and Joel Stein is pretty funny. *getting old*

I like Zakaria quite a bit, don't know enough about Klein to make a call.

As for modern examples of a theocracy - that teacher who lost against the Lutheran church? Yeah so - the church can pretty much determine who gets to work there, and there is no recourse within the law.

i'm really sad and scared about the potential for mass destruction and death that can come with the potential of nuclear war. two days ago i realized for the first time what the "ban nukes" protestors might have been feeling back when it was something more popular to see - because it's realistic to understand that war will almost always be a part of humanity (or that we can't expect nations to abandon their violent methods of dealing with things so quickly), but the potential for mass, mass suffering, death and pain, in a way that can in no way be restricted to "military targets," is just scary and wrong.

it seems so, so ridiculous when you think about it - these supposedly educated, dignified people posturing like children on a playground, and every one of them needs to have a stick in their hand, just to show that if they want to, they can swing it. the thing in iran is scary, the thing in north korea is scary, and what the u.s. has done multiple times and i'm sure is still doing, i.e. the iraq war, is horrible and scary as well.

wish there was a way that leaders could be reasoned with - just to say, hey, i'm sure you have a family you love, as do i, why would we want to endanger either of them. but i know some people just don't care about that, and it's much more complicated.

I guess the only things we're missing now are remarks with respect to "what would steve do?" and Lin-mania. Ironically another link between Steve and Lin is a lawsuit in China of some company against Apple from whom Apple bought the right to use "iPad" as a name for their touch-thing. What would Lil' Kim do?
