I'm rediscovering it, with songs like this one :

I wasn't aware of the album released in 2010 :

This project predates the dark Venetian Snares mood, but years before the first Snares release, and in a more mature and controlled way.

So, from your perspective, what are the best songs from this project (or any Matt Elliot related project), and do you know any artists that have a similar sound ?

First artist that comes to my mind is Lakker, who was talked about recently on watmm (RDJ play some of his tracks in his DJ sets). His album "Ruido" is very powerful, and it seems that there's no topic about it...

third eye foundation has never really released unpleasant trac. sweet, sullen sounds. unique. hard to find sounds that are like it. maybe bits and pieces of lakker have similarities. maybe

I love the Third Eye Foundation. Matt Elliott's work has a very distinctive mood, something dark and twisted yet passionately sensitive.

"The Kursk" from Matt Elliot's Drinking Songs is one of my all-time favourite pieces of music, full stop.

I love his track titled, too. They do a terrific job at reflecting his mood, his anguish, his sense of irony...

Very underrated guy apparently. I like what I've heard in this thread. Beforehand I had only heard random remixes and compilation tracks I have kicking around in my collection.

My favourite track of his was actually the first I heard by him (It was on a Domino sampler on The Wire):

Goddamnit You've Got To Be Kind (Taken from the Little Lost Soul album)

Though I have a soft spot for the brittle fragility of this one as well -

Blonde Redhead - Four Damaged Lemons (Third Eye Foundation remix) (Taken from the Third Eye Foundation remix compilation album I Poo Poo On Your Juju)

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

Always loved the actual track 'semtex', lo-fi as fuck but still sounds pretty amazing. Doesn't seem to be on youtube or anything like that though.

This one's also a classic.

There's a remix of Galaxy of Scars on the Wack Planet 12" that's stunning too.

Listening to his stuff I'm always wondering if he's that depressed in real life.
