ascdi
Good thread. I also appreciate COH. Although I (foolishly) do not have the Cosey collab. Guest Backson
I only have IIron but I love it. One of my favourites of last year. You've already posted my favourite track. Also, War End War is boss. \m/, Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/72248-coh-appreciation-thread/#findComment-1768861 Share on other sites
Boxus
yeah war end war is epic. great track for headphone listening too (like all his music) - it really dances around the stereo space. the earlier album Iron is great too - it's more subtle than Iiron, but similar in spirit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZQX4PEuJJk needless to say, youtube audio is terrible for these kinds of tracks. i figure it's still worth posting Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide Boxus's signature Hide all signatures art Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/72248-coh-appreciation-thread/#findComment-1769111 Share on other sites
khov
I know i should get more into COH, being a Pan Sonic fan and the Mask of birth album is great. He has also worked with Coil on that ANS records (the old soviet synth Artemiev used to play with). Capsaicin
I have Strings, and that one's pretty cool. Really interesting packaging too. Been meaning to pick up Above Air for, well, a year or so. Maybe I'll get around to it soon. I think I'm going to have to order a copy of Iron. The second one for me was this glorious little discovery, definitely the most interesting album I heard last year. Guest Z_B_Z
coh is great. the transition at 2:20 is awesome.. id love a live album, as his stuff seems to take on a different tone live.. 'strings' and 'patherns' are my favorite releases.. and of course pavlovs work in the woefully underrated soisong is great as well Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/72248-coh-appreciation-thread/#findComment-1769268 Share on other sites

Boxus
those live vids are great! i like the way he treats the cosey samples. wonder what kind of software he has running in his sets.. i don't know anything about his methods, but i always figured he was into programming of some kind.. awepittance
i like every COH i've heard a lot, except for his newer one with the guitar processing. IT's the only misfire i think he's done personally. His label Wavetrap has released one of my favorite CDs by EX-farmers manual member 'PXP' Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide awepittance's signature Hide all signatures Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/72248-coh-appreciation-thread/#findComment-1881758 Share on other sites

kichiguy
New CoH. Quote The new COH album, RETRO-2038, will be released by Editions Mego on 13.05.2013, on CD and gatefold 2xLP. To make the wait more entertaining [at least to myself], I will be publishing simple source loops from the album via SoundCloud - do watch this space if curious. http://soundcloud.com/frankie-gothard/coh-retro-2038-src-loop01 Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/72248-coh-appreciation-thread/#findComment-1955047 Share on other sites

It sounds somewhat like it could be improvised or done through some sort of generative process but for being what it is, a very 'cold' clicky totally synthetic borderline beat oriented album i think it's better than almost anything Mego or Raster noton has put out. His 2nd album isn't as good. The first one is A+++++ http://www.discogs.com/Pxp-whilepprint-xp/release/126388 if you can afford to get it on cd (looks like $5 used) get it, the mp3 version floating around I've found is too low quality to do it justice. To me it fits perfectly in the farmers manual canon, it would go great with Explorers We and FSCK as a trilogy of sorts just got a used copy of COh's metal guitar remix album off Mego, i think its probably by far his weakest work that i've heard. Maybe manipulating samples is just not his strong skillset. All the other stuff i've heard by him thats mostly synth and tone oriented i prefer much more Edited February 19, 2013 by Awepittance Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide awepittance's signature Hide all signatures Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/72248-coh-appreciation-thread/#findComment-1955078 Share on other sites
hello spiral
Only have one coh track and I fucking love it, this thread has made me question why I haven't yet checked out anything else by him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jci5TIel6UY came with a Wire subscriber bonus thing from raster.noton. It's pretty great, plus the disc is album length but completely see-through(!?) mcbpete
This is probably my favourite COH track - Though the rest of the album is a little too abstract for my tastes. Album wise this is my favourite, every track is a bloody belter - http://boomkat.com/downloads/56917-coh-strings . I'd heard loads of tracks from that album somewhere before but can't place where, possibly on those 8-12 hour Ae DJ sets ? kichiguy
Mask of Birth and Post Pop is some of the best glitch I've ever heard. Patherns & Strings are favorites too. awepittance
i think Post pop is the best full length work i've heard of his. Still not really anything else out there that sounds like it. anyone here own anything of his own vinyl? I have one 12" off mego and the grooves on it (black vinyl) look fucking amazing, like it's some sort of digital programming code. Looks like no other vinyl i own.
