Happy song from an unhappy time

Hey ya'll!

This is probably one of the last "finished" tracks I've made over the past 6 months - nothing too fancy, but I was particularly surprised because I was working on it at a time when I felt extremely pessimistic about life. Turns out it sounds all happy and bubbly n'shit. Go figure.

Anyway, let me know what you think - this is also the first track I've ever tried to properly EQ and not sure if I succeeded on that front or not (your ears be the judges).

Hope you enjoy!

Pretty cool drum programming. I really like the part where the drums starts bouncing like marbles ;)

The 8-bit sound fx seem a bit unnecessary to me.

Maybe it's just me but there seems to be something wrong tonality-wise from 0:33 - 1:08. Also the extreme panning on the arp melody near the end is a bit too much.

Hey!

Thanks so much to everyone here - this is extremely useful feedback . . . the 1:09 - 2:30 comment is particularly interesting (at this point) - went back over the weekend and listened and does feel like there is something "empty" there. Squee, thanks for the props on the drum parts and also thoughts on the arp melody at the end + panning and the tonality of the early section. That's one of those things that having someone else's ears is just so useful because, having listened to it so many times, it's hard to get perspective.

Really, really, much appreciated - hope everyone is having a good one!!!!

Just want to say i really like this.

triachus

yelling AAAA really straings the voice, and the tiny h really represents the struggle and hardship a vocal chord must endure for yelling AAAA

Not a huge fan of the gameboy sounds.

That being said, I really dug this track most of the way through (especially towards the end). Kind of a warm melancholy.

 Thanks A/D (and AAAh and sarge too)! Yeah, made me realize that, no matter how dark things seem, there's always some spark of joy in there somewhere :-)

Again, so much appreciation on the feedback - seems like there is a consensus on the 8 bit sounds being a little too prominent, which is good food for thought. Take care ya'll!!!
