Shit You Made When You Were Young

Recommended Posts

I searched for this and couldn't find it, so my bad if it's already been made.

This is where you post crappy (or maybe even good) songs you made when you were young and still barely knew how to use any program. Here are a couple of the first songs I made that I released online when I was 13. I have earlier ones, but they're not online. They use only Garageband loops, including ones I downloaded for free. (sorry, having trouble getting the direct link)

My new ones are, unfortunately, not a whole lot better. But hey, everyone has their talents.

What are your first few songs?

My very first "good" song is this one:

http://youtu.be/qHJfukeaWQ8

I had Beatcraft at the moment when I was like 12, I used samples from a CD school gave us and from Windows pinball...Then I uploaded it to YT in 2009 and that... I have like 60+ songs hanging around in YT in different accounts (because I wanted to change my username all the time), lol, but yeah, that was my very first...

He're is the first track I finished. It's not that old, maybe 4.5 years old (I was something like 18) and it's a good example of me arriving on that new soft named Renoise, with no real musical experience. Back in the days I was listening to Alright! and The Tuss. The Flahbulb also (yeah I've been listening to him some time ago).

00 - The Bird (Underwater).mp3Fetching info...

it's very noodly but every move was really an experiment for me as I knew nothing about sound and musicmaking. I find it a little bit shitty but still there's something in it that I like even now.

that's' pretty good man

I have a 3" CD of the first stuff I did as Asymmetrical Head that I released back in 2003. Too lazy to rip it and upload it though.

Oooooh pleeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaase :)

This is the oldest track I have online, nowhere close to one of my first though. Made back in 2003, I had been at it for about 4 or 5 years by then.

I might dig out some old stuff if I can locate it.

More old stuff circa 2000-2004 on my band camp as the album Broken Past.

edit: This one is older than the one above. Not sure on the year probably around 2000/2001. http://hautlle.bandc...abes-fold-hands

second edit: Found one on my PC from like '98 lol Sony ACID Pro 2.0 FTW

This is surprisingly good for being one of your first songs. I mean, it's better than mine now. And that's after years of fucking with this stuff. Granted, I've only been able to afford Garageband; the best thing I have is a MIDIman 2x2 that I can use with my crap stage keyboard I got like, 10 years ago.

I'm still young and making shit! Anyway, here are some experiments into new territories, stylistically and technically...

1989, programming Basic on my MSX. Recorded via TV speaker to tape recorder. No idea what influenced this:

1992, a buddy's sister's Casio toy keyboard (with drum machine), a radio, a mic, a Zoom multi FX box and a Boss Digital Delay. I'm proud to state that I independently stumbled onto glitch/granular/breakcore on the DD! Recorded live in one go to a Fostex 4-track. Influenced by dub, techno and black metal:

1993, guitar plus a borrowed Amiga running a tracker. Recorded to Fostex 4-track. Influenced by Scorn and Godflesh:

2001, sampled noises from a borrowed acoustic guitar, cut and pasted in Cubase, with added VST synths from Fruity Loops or Reason. Influenced by Aphex and Squarepusher:

2001, soft synths in Reason. Influenced by Go Plastic:

Stuff from 2007, its the earliest stuff online I can find. I called myself "ohetgrencnt" after picking these letters with a formula from a tobacco package. How IDM is that? Quite decent tunes though.

Check my dusty tunes and mixes over here: https://soundcloud.com/2kn

Some Juno 6 noodling / Cheetah MD16 and 4 track from 95 ish

Some electronic stuff from early 90s with a 50p casiotone, couple of FX pedals and broken Amstrad 4 track

I wish I had some tapes of shit me and friend used to make in the early 80s when we were little

I'm sure we've done this thread before

I've gotta find the computer will all the tracks I made before I was 15. I think I have the first song I ever made somewhere, from when I was 9 to11 years old.

I find it funny that some people are posting tracks here that they made when they were my age.

Yeah, I was trying to find it; I would have preferred to just bump that one. I know it's out there somewhere.

Those are pretty decent, man!

I lost most of the earliest things that I did, but at some point I made a 90 minute tape filled with old stuff just in case. this is a random selection from that tape, from back before I really listened to electronic music, around 15-16 y/o.

Good thread!

This is circa 2003. I'm not a musician, was for the fun. FL Studio plus some VST machines and effects. In the end that is a sample of my cat (RIP).

Unfortunately I lost the samples and sources (project files).

Well, finally I thought it's way too boring and conventional, but hey...

Ha, this sounds like music from a Pop Cap game.

Your '09 ones are definitely way better, especially the first one you posted. Nice job.
