Guest ruiagnelo
DOMUS magazine is one of my favorite sources for reading pleasure and discovery, as it covers mainly architecture and desgin, but essencially art, and it often goes to unexpected fields. Like the recent article and respective mixtape by Daniel Perlin that captures the sound world of Rio de Janeiro and it's variety of musical styles. Quote And so at any moment, walking down its streets, eyes closed or open, you will hear music: Pagode, Samba, Baile Funk, Forró, Black, Sertanejo, Bossa Nova, Nova Bossa, Frevo, Côco, Evangélico, Jazz, Techno Brega, Chorinho, Samba Do Raiz, Maracatu, Rock, Pop, and countless other cross-genres and songs perform themselves in the windows, on the camelô carts, on the radios, in the houses, and on PA systems. Quote This always-already presencing of Rio's being creates a sound that can be carried with you, a city that carries you. Rio is a devouring city, a music regurgitating new forms. http://soundcloud.com/domusweb/domus-mixtape-12-the-sound-of This is part of a project that already created mixtapes for London, Buenos Aires, Moscow, among others.
