I'm having a really good day

Recommended Posts

So work's been a bit gash lately, not getting along well with my boss and he's cunting me out to everyone else in the office so I'm going to be leaving in the next couple months. Little bit down about it, but today's a glorious day here in London. The sun's out, there's a lovely cool breeze.

Was strolling down the embankment today listening to this Jeff Mills set which I think Chassis posted not too long back, pure class for anyone who hasn't heard it:

I don't know if it was the sun, or the music, or a combination of both but it's got me really looking forward to the summer, getting a BBQ and having friends over to listen to some good tunes, eating some good food.

Speaking of food, I cooked my first roast dinner on Sunday for my mum, it was fucking triff. Was really anxious about fucking it up, but it turned out amazingly. I just covered that chicken in olive oil, sprinkled some dry herbs onto that shit. Stabbed a lemon a few times, whacked it in the microwave for 40 seconds, then shoved it in the chickens orifice along with a garlic clove and a bunch of fresh coriander. Wrapped that baby in foil and left it in the oven for 2 hours on 180. That was the most tender, delicious chicken I ever ate.

So this thread is about food, good people and good times. Take it away. (91 views, 0 replies)

I'm having a good day too. Just started dating this great girl. Left there this morning. Had a good cup of coffee. I'm thinking about taking pictures today.

My thoughts are also apparently fragmented, but that's okay.

I had a great day as well. The sun has decided to come out from hiding, work was fun, I got free lunch, I bought a awesome cup of coffee (cortado), a croissant, and two huge cookies (one for a colleague and one for myself) and later I'm going to my grandmother's for dinner. Aw yeah.

I realize that's a little ambiguous. I mean that in a competitive way, like I'm going to go out and have a good day that is better than your days.

Good to hear about good days. Unfortunately I'm not having too many. Outside of work it's all good, if unremarkable, I guess, but I'm really tired of my job at the moment.

So I essentially proofread and create content for travel brochures, which another department then completely changes ignoring all style and consistency. In the last few weeks I've started writing short comments on their amendments, mostly pointing out when they're not doing their job properly.

So yesterday I got reprimanded about it; interdepartmental relations and all that. It's bullshit, and it's another example of how once a month (or so) I suddenly realise how completely pointless my job is. There's no progression in it and the company itself is just screwing itself over by continuing to do the things my department is here for. LOL, I guess.

I'm applying for loads of jobs in London, but only getting calls back from the shittiest. Some Groupon-type website (but their website looks atrocious) are interested, but I'm worried about getting into an even shittier position.

My girlfriend's not crazy about moving to London either, maybe somewhere closer, but I'll still have to commute and then I'll feel like I'm bleeding money.

I can't really complain too much though, as for 2 years I've essentially been paid to spend 6 hours a day (on average) just idly browsing the internet. I probably should have spent my time more wisely and written a book or tried to broaden my professional experience by learning design skills or freelancing copy.

Ah well, good to hear about your good days anyway. The emergence of summer is making me feel moderately better.

Gary C, we need to meet up soon and put the world to rights.

Sorry to hear about the job Gary. I'm in a similar situation really, the company I think is really running itself into the ground. Business isn't run as it should be and I'm constantly having run ins with the boss because I know better than him about technical issues and he's from a sales background, but out of some misplaced sense of pride or something absolutely refuses to believe he's wrong. Keeps fucking stuff up and wrongly prioritizing clients... but whatever... this thread is about a good day!

So yeah, if you move to London you'll be close to your ol' mate Obel. That's not so bad eh? Maybe you could tell your girlfriend that, she might be more inclined to move. I won't make a move on her though, bro code and all that.

Everyone round Obel C's for drinks and bro hugs

I had a day similar to this a while back.

So I had just gotten out of my only long term relationship (5 years) but we were still good friends. Two months after we broke up my friend had his twenty first and when she turned up to the party she brought along a stout, middle aged south american man, and for some reason didn't talk to me the whole evening, even though I had waved at her across the room when she arrived. Once she had had a couple of drinks she started falling into his arms a bit I finally caught on. It felt pretty shitty, and I felt embarrassed that I couldn't do or say anything.

Anyway, the next day I got up, said my goodbyes to my friend and caught a bus. And for some reason this was the most beautiful, most enlightening bus ride I'd ever experienced. It was just passing through suburbian, with mixed greenery hear and there. The sun was shining too. But for some reason, I had this extremely intense feeling of calm. You know when weed addicts and hippies describe mundane events like they are amazing? Well it was that. Everything was okay, and life was just a marvellous series of events that gracefully fall together. I swear to god I felt like crying, just watching the houses and the trees passing knowing that everything was okay.

Maybe I'm not conveying this very well, but it felt very important and I rememebered that day.

I've had plenty of days like that. On buses too. There's something very comforting about a good bus ride. Seeing the world through a big window with a warm sun and gentle vibrations.

Fags go up by 37p this afternoon in Britain. I shouldn't smoke, but I'm going to buy a pack anyway.

Equal to a warm and gentle bus ride is the smell of a cigarette in the afternoon.

I had the best day in a looong time today aswell.

It has to be the spring really showing it's first signs. I like that there's light in the morning, and when I get home from work now. Makes the day a whole lot easier to get through.

Also I forgot how good Obsessed by B12 is. It made my day.

I'm having a good day simply because yesterday was a mess and I'm glad it's not yesterday anymore. Oh yeah I did have a nice little jam yesterday, too.

My coffee's pretty good today, so that's a good start. My throat's still sore because of this cold though, and I have a gig tomorrow, so that's not so good. I give the goodness of my day a 7/10 so far because I'm an optimist. It's only 9:30AM so anything could happen.

*had to edit one typo in this post, so I'm maybe a 6.5/10 right now.

Bitches ain't shit, man.

I know a thing or two about long term relationships. Six years mine was. Sounds like you got over it about 2 years quicker than I did! This is a good will thread though, I hope the good feeling spreads.

First day of spring... I like Spring, Summer gets a bit too hot, but Spring is perfect.
