Is that the one where he says he hates OK Computer and how much he like Aphex?

Something like that. He was tired of rock music, guitar-driven music, only listened to electronic music, Aphex, Autechre and so forth.

Honestly, I still don't really care much for Kid A. I probably should listen to it and the albums they made after it. I'm probably missing out on good tunes.

People say Kid A sounds like "Start as you mean to go on"

What does that mean?

I still don't know to this day. People were saying this all the time, then i listen to Kid A and i was cock-struck by the fact that it didn't sound anything like "Start as you mean to go on". I don't know where people got that from.

I love his rant on his problem with rock music. You know he is being straight down the line and, that's rare to see in an interview (in my experience), just pure honesty..

Sort of interesting his reply to the fact he has 3 guitarists in his band 'yeah what a bummer' so I think we are very lucky to still have Radiohead in one peice. I think they must of been a whisker away from splitting...

squarepusher moment @27min

Again, I'm not a big radiohead, but that interviewer is a fucking douchebag.

If he (TY) doesn't want to answer a question, the dude should just be respectful and move on.

I can't imagine the amount of slimy, self-serving fucks that come out of the woodwork and get up in your shit when you reach that level of success doing whatever it is that you are best at.

Pretty much. In a way he kinda indirectly answers the question anyway, and elsewhere in the interview

Also, what Candiru said!

Really? This is Thom being a diva/tortured artist. I love Radiohead, but I find these interviews, particularly the Kid A era, hard to stomach.

I don't think he is playing a role, he comes off pretty genuine to me and I love him for it.

Maybe so, but if he doesn't want to talk about something sensitive, give him that.

Just because a collaboration is massively successful, it doesn't also mean that some of the pain endured throughout the process is minimized. Maybe quite the contrary.

If you were, say, in a wildly successful band or other kind of creative/collaborative endeavor with difficult personalities (perhaps you being the main problem, and you are aware of it... who knows), you probably feel like you have more of a responsibility to steer an otherwise sinking ship to safety. On that level, too, you are a corporation that employs many other people. That shit could be horrendous. I'm just saying, I give him the benefit of the doubt and commend him for not jumping at the chance to completely air his dirty laundry.

Hmm. I think he was at a point where he was questioning the value of his previous music if people were misinterpreting it to the point where they thought Radiohead should be the next U2. After lots of work and touring, you'd feel chewed up and spit out I'm sure. He didn't want to live up to what other people thought he was supposed to be doing, and he had to convince the rest of the band that taking this giant risk in changing their sound could actually work and open up more potential. And how. He's also pretty over-dramatic at times, but that probably helps infuse the music with passion.
