Any Fans?

I happened to listen to the debut Modern Lovers album last week. Not for the first time, mind you. I wouldn't have recognized the singer's name or known to click this thread if I hadn't accidentally clicked "next topic" from the Radiohead thread. I've never heard any other Jonathan Richman stuff.

It's a good album, but not fantastic or anything. "Pablo Picasso" being my favorite track. "Hospital" is also really good.

Does he seem mildly retarded in that last video? Both live videos, actually. These songs not on the Modern Lovers s/t album sound way different than anything on that album to me.

Yeah those song of the first modern lovers album are the best. The rest of it is okay, but I find that with his music it grows on you as it's quite subtle his stuff. Haha, yeah I know what you mean, he's like a big kid. I think his live performances are great!

The solo albums of his I've heard are great 'I jonathan' and 'Jonathan sings'. The berkley collection is great as well. I get the feeling his stuff is hit and miss. But when he hits it, it's simply wonderful.

saw him in brooklyn last year.

I missed his london shows! So annoyed, was he good?
